Left 4 Dead 2 Demo
Size: 2 GB
Description: The sequel to the best-selling and critically-acclaimed co-operative multiplayer smash from Valve®, Left 4 Dead™ 2 promises to become one of 2009's top-selling games and set a new benchmark for co-operative action games. Left 4 Dead 2 takes place at roughly the same time as the original, and leads four new “Survivors” through the southeastern United States -- from Savannah, Georgia to New Orleans’ French Quarter. The title adds melee combat, new monsters and weapons, the AI Director 2.0, and more to create a larger game than the original. Visit www.l4d.com for more information.

I only have about 2.2GB left on my 20GB 360. I really need a new hard drive (or an elite 🙂).

In any case, I can't wait to try this out tonight.

I've been counting down the minutes all day until 5:00, and what do ya know I have to stay late at work.... sumbitch! At least its downloaded and waiting for me when I do make it home.

So how is the demo guys? Thinking about D/Ling it.

The demo is nice,.. if you like L4D you will love part 2. The demo is a little different, because its in the day time and to me makes it much easier. Infact I went from Easy, to Advanced to Expert in my first 3 runs and never had a problem (then again I consider L4D to be the best game ever and have 1250/1250 on it). The demo is a fun, but only has 2 chapters of the Parish campain. I do like how each time you play, something changes and you have to take a different route. Most times they are suttle, but every once in a while a nice shortcut will open up and make it easy on ya.
The new guns KICK ASS!! The boomer bile is a great weapon to use against the tank, and I gotta say the new infected are killer. I can't wait to play versus, its going to be a blast.

I just went through it and it seems just like more of the same. The melee weapons were a nice addition and some of the other of the medical stuff but it just seems like they only slightly changed L4D and added new weapons that aren't even that much different than the standard ones that were in part 1. If you loved L4D1 and were happy with how it is then this is what you want cus it's more of the same thing but if you were expecting them to change it up and make it feel refreshing and put your interest into the game again then no this won't do it. The new special infected aren't even that different either. It's not bad cus L4D1 wasn't a bad game either but it's just more of the same and it will get boring like the original content did as well.

the weapons are a complete game changers as are the new special infected

the new tier 2 pistol, the desert eagle, can one shot torso kill common infected no matter the difficulty

the AK47 can one shot torso kill common infected on normal difficulty (like to be the same settings used for Vs. play)

the hunting rifle has been fixed so that it isn't completely worthless while you're running around (ie the accuracy doesn't go to hell, ie worse than a shot gun, when you're moving or being hit), and on top of that there is a military sniper rifle that improves upon the hunting rifle with 30 rounds per mag (doubled from 15 on the hunting rifle) and carries 210 total bullets vs. 165 of the hunting rifle and is just as accurate and powerful.

Shotguns have also been immensely nerfed with drastically lowered ammo capacities and increased reload times. Combine that with SMGs being given capacities of 700 total bullets and Valve seems to have solved the shotgun whoring problem.

Then there are the melee weapons. We only see 4 of them in the demo, and there are supposed to be 10 total, of which I have heard the katana and fire axe can possibly crown a witch...combine one of those with a rifle for long range and you have a really killer combo. But even the standard melee weapons are huge as they deal nearly twice the damage blow for blow than a shotgun...and they do not have fatigue cool down, making them extremely useful weapons for fending of hoard ambushes.

I was able to play around with the unfinished grenade launcher before they blocked it, but that might end up being more gimmick than useful, but I imagine it will still be fun to mess with.

Then there's the weapon upgrades - explosive and incendiary ammo will be really useful, and laser sights will increase your primary weapon's accuracy, making the rifles especially deadly.

Then theres the adrenaline, similar to pills in that is a temporary boost of health (only 25 temp health vs. 50 temp health of pills) but it will also give you a burst of speed allowing you to run faster, pick up incapacitated teammates faster, and be immune to melee fatigue while under the effects.

Then there's the defibrillator, which will actually bring teammates back from death...

Ok, so there's all these news changes that really do give the survivors a lot of advantages, but apparently the new specials aren't anything special, so the game should be a breeze for the survivors...

well zero is wrong again, because the specials aren't more of the same. The spitter and charger are going to be complete game changers, corner and closet camping will be a thing of the past as the spitter can spit and acid puddle that does exponential damage over time and the charger has a ton more health than the other special infected and is fast, the charger can easily charge down a team of survivors before they can kill him, and the 1.5 levels we see in the demo are chock full of narrow alleys and choke points absolutely perfect for ambush charger attacks.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way but I expect more from games. I never said it was bad I just said that it's more of the same and if you like more of the same that's great but I was expecting it to change things around. It just feels like another DLC.

Why ruin something that works? To me its a totally different game, but then again I play L4D every day and it never gets old to me. I guess maybe someone who just doesn't get part 1, wouldn't think much of part 2. I get it,.. I love it, and I want more of it.

I've played through the demo several times, and think it looks really good. The only thing that I didn't like (that I find infuriating, in fact) is that the human AI is worthless. I'm hoping that it will be better in the full version, because as weak as the survivor AI was in the original it is now somehow worse. I love playing versus on live or system link, but sometimes I don't have people to play with and it pisses me off that the survivor AI is so bad the game is sometimes unplayable.

What gets me is that it feels to similar that it could have been a DLC. It doesn't feel like a whole new game at all.

I thought it was fun but a bit of a tease since it is so short and limited in scope. I really didn't care for the original L4D demo but I had a lot of fun playing that game with friends. I think this game will be the same way.

It is indeed more of the same to a certain extent, but it's a sequel--what do you really expect? The same can be said for just about any other sequel.

This demo was horrible

That's it! I'm starting a boycott! We didn't land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Now who's with me? AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Is it a SP or MP demo? Is there a limit to how much you can play it?

It's single-player and co-op. You can play the first two maps of The Parish campaign as many times as you want. The Versus, Realism, Survival and Scavenge modes are disabled (left out).

I see your point, but its just 2 parts of 1 campaign. I'm sure once we dive into the game we will see a lot more then what we see right now. I can tell a difference in how the infected act and react to the survivors, and see there is more "strategy" to their attacks then just popping up in the same place everytime.

And that is, according to Valve, part of the reason this couldn't be DLC. The AI Director is now version 2.0 and they couldn't just upgrade the original with it.

How is it "drivel" if he tried out the demo and stated his opinion on why he didn't particularly care for it? It would be "drivel" if he went into a flaming rant, which he did not.

He posted blatant misinformation to downplay the new aspects of the game as if they weren't different or game changing when they actually are. You could see that if you actually read the rest of my post that contradicts his "opinions". This isn't even the first time he has done this, he felt the need to bash the game yet again with misleading information outside of the L4D2 threads in the PC gaming forum...

Fact of the matter here is the new content put forth in L4D2 is going to drastically change the way the game is played (shotgun whoring will be a thing of the past, corner/closest camping virtually eliminated, sniper rifles are no longer worthless, etc...), a DLC update to L4D1 to give all these new features to that game would completely change the way that game is played. There very well may be players who don't like the way L4D2 plays but enjoy L4D1 but now they'll still have the opportunity to continue playing L4D1 without having it ruined for them.

Misinformation??? Where??? It's called my opinion and if you don't like it that's fine but you just need to chill. Do you work for Valve or something? You're taking this WAAAAAY too personal.
