yay over-hyped high school basketball. this guy's coach is such a pimp he should be locked up.
When he came out of the game with 2:30 left, having outscored the entire Westchester team at that point, he raised his arms to the crowd and the fans responded with "we are not worthy" bows.
I don't think you should roll your eyes at your assumption the judge received a monetary bribe, I think you need to roll your eyes at the fact they tried to rule him ineligible for the rest of the year because some guy gave him 2 free over-priced jerseys. So what if he's cocky as hell, I don't like it, but the sentence was a little harsh in the first place.Originally posted by: ChrisIsBored
So a judge overturned his suspension because how much money found his way to his pocket?

He returned them once he got shafted initially. Fortunately they commuted his sentence. 😉Originally posted by: Broohaha

What rule did he break? A friend/wannabe gave him 2 free jerseys. So what? He didn't receive anything from any colleges or scouts, nor did he accept them as a bribe. From what I've read, it was just a friendly jesture. Just seems to me like some guy that worked/owned the local sports shop just wanted Lebron to remember him when he hit's it big.Originally posted by: jaydee

Why again did the judge overule it? To me at least, it seemed like a logical sequence of action: There are rules... Lebron broke a rule... the guy in charge enforced this rule.
I don't understand how a judge comes in and says "well, he broke a rule... and the consequences is clearly stated that you should sit out the remainder of the year... but I think I'll shorten it because... I'm a judge 😎"

I understand that rule, but I don't understand how he 'capitalized' on athletic fame by receiving the two jerseys worth $800+. I've read those rules before, so don't think I weren't aware of them. I just see the jerseys, though, not that they cost a absorbatant amount of money.Originally posted by: jaydee
"Ohio High School Athletic Association bylaws state that an athlete forfeits his or her amateur status by "capitalizing on athletic fame by receiving money or gifts of monetary value."
More specifically, the OHSAA 2002-03 Athletic Eligibility Information Bulletin states in part that, "You may receive an award or merchandise as a result of your participation in school or non-school competition from any source, provided the value does not exceed $100 per award.""

I never said that. I said the whole freakin punishment of them taking his eligibility away in the first place was ridiculous. The couple game suspension should've been called in the first place. I'm saying he was singled out because of his fame at his young age.Originally posted by: jaydee

So you're saying, if he wasn't on ESPN every week playing basketball, in projected to be the #1 pick in a couple months in the NBA Draft, will probably collect in excess of $100 million in the next 5 years for playing basketball, then he still would have gotten the jersey's?
More like 61.7%, but still good.Originally posted by: dahunan
