Most Valuable Player TO HIS TEAM. Take away Lebron, you have a decent team. Take away Kobe, you still have a very good team. Take away Wade, you got last place in the Least.

He simply a masterful entertainer and business/salesman. If he's getting a billion, that means he's made far more than that for others.

For most people it might be a no-brainer to leave, but as much as he talks that's not his makeup.

Cleveland was shitty when he joined them. The other teams have the MONEY to build a competitive team. See: Celtics.

#1 Kobe lost last year.

Allen Iverson - 2001

EDIT: Had to verify this one:

Magic Johnson - 1989

EDIT 2:
Larry Bird - 1985

Karl Malone lost to MJ when he won MVP as well I believe.

Edit: According to Wikipedia he won the MVP in 1997 (also in 1999) the year they lost to the Bulls in the Finals the first time.

Yep, Malone was the first one that popped into my head.

Yeah I get that, but I'm driving home the fact that we shouldn't be paying them so much to play a sport. I love basketball, football, and soccer, and I'd hate to see professional leagues die, but I've never been able to accept how much they get paid.

If peeps took some of the money they spend on the NBA and direct it toward teachers, counselors, managers, engineers; basically anyone who helps improve society, then maybe the best and brightest wouldn't be so quick to go to law school and i-banking, and instead pursue careers in fields that are in need.

Tiger Woods' retirement fund could be worth a billion alone.

But see, to the casual fans of the NBA, LeBroom is LeBest. Anyone who quotes best team in the League is fucking blind, if the Cavs were in the Western Conference, their record would be the same or worse than the Lakers.

That's not how the MVP has been awarded for the last.... ever? LeBron is the best player in the NBA right now and his numbers back that up. He's better than Kobe and Wade by a wide margin. He deserves the NBA's MVP, which doesn't go to the most valuable player, but to the best (or usually the flashiest). There have been exceptions, but most people assume that MVP = best player, not most valuable to his team.

Plus, as good as Wade has been this season, he only really turned it on 1/2 way through. LeBron has been putting up monster numbers since the opening tip.

Um, what's your point, his income potential is limited to his nba contract?...

Yeah, endorsements could shoot him up there.

Fucker wants to be "global". I'd rather LeBron end his career and go away quietly, but still maintain a presence. Sort of like Jordan. He's still making money and stuff, but I don't see him every damn day.

Plus, I'm hoping Derrick Rose ends up on the Lakers and teams up with Bynum to wreak havoc in the Best and deny Lebron a championship.

There a max that can be earned in the NBA - he'd have to make that up in endorsements. He'd have to score like 960million in endorsements to be a billion dollar athlete.

Everyone seems to forget the Rockets. Well let me tell you they are going to destroy the Lakers and Cavs in 4 straight. You read it here first! :D

Kobe is the best player in the NBA.

LeBron is right there, but until he gets a midrange game and either makes more three-pointers or stops taking so much, he's getting second fiddle in my book. Note that this is not a fact, I'm stating opinion here.

Kobe's vice is that he can get caught up in the "me me" mode and leave wide open teammates standing there while he goes up for a shot while triple teamed.

LeBron's vice is that he lacks the killer instinct that Kobe has, that Jordan had, that Bird had. LeBron, in his OWN words, wants to be a billion dollar athlete. That's not going to happen on the court. Thus, he wants to ENTERTAIN more than he wants to win championships. Everyone knows he wants to win A CHAMPIONSHIP, but Kobe wants to win ALL OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Tiger has 1/10th of what LeBroom would need to break 1billion. Unless there are a lot of STUPID companies out there, and the recession continues into next year (READ: The NBA will LOWER the salary cap again) then it will be more of a stretch for LeBroom to hit his goal.

the term MVP is a misnomer. they should just call it best player in the league, which i agree is lebron.
wade is far more valuable to his team than lbj is to the cavs.

Eh, LeBroom is much more selfish than Kobe - Kobe's "me me" mode isn't that frequent anymore. He has a tendency to trust Gasol & Fischer more.

they should actually call it the MPP - Most Popular Player. MVP & All-Stars should be voted by the player base, not the fans or media.

Haha, well now it's more like "okay first and second quarter, I'm going to let these guys get their numbers. If we need a buffer zone I'll step it up in the third and get my shots. As long as we got double digits going into the 4th, I can take it easy."

The problem is, when the Lakers get behind, all of a sudden Kobe goes into "man I gotta bring them back". Instead, he should rally them and say "first off, lock down on D, second, we'll keep running our offense".

The triangle works. Phil and Jordan proved that. Getting behind is no big deal, but Kobe will sometimes feel he has to carry the entire team.
