LeBron James - "Being black in America is tough."

Another hate crime in America.

AP said:
"No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America is tough," said James, who was visibly shaken. "We have a long way to go for us as a society and for us as African-Americans until we feel equal in America."

An unidentified person spray painted the N-word on the front gate of James' home in the Brentwood neighborhood Wednesday morning, said Capt. Patricia Sandoval, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department. Neither James nor his family was at the home at the time.

If your instinct is to say that you don't care for him as a basketball player, but... or something along those lines, don't bother.

This isn't about basketball.

This is about how there are people so small that anyone above them must be taken down with hatred.

Yes, LeBron James, lecture the rest of us about our white privilege, please!

that's not what he did at all.

what part of "No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America is tough," don't you understand?

so you approve of what happened?

Living in poverty in America is tough, it's not isolated to race. I don't get why fanning racial flames has become en vogue lately.

by fanning racial flames, you are talking about the person who spray painted n****r right?

Absolutely. Honestly I didn't read what happened to him, guilty of just reading the subject. That's terrible and frick whoever did it.

My statement still stands though, being black and poor in America isn't any tougher than being white and poor, it's tough on each. I live in an area that is 65+% black and not the highest on the income scales. The poor here across racial lines have it rough.

It's tough being a poor white kid growing up on food stamps in a trailer park too, but now it's fashionable to be racist against you as well. MLK had a dream where all men (and ill add in women) are created equal, not where colleges have no-whites day. This shite just isn't helpful.

I'd hazard to guess most of our ardent race-baiting sjw's on here live in fairly well off, homogenous areas.

sorry, but that is false equivalency, do you honestly believe that poor white kids get treated the same by cops and poor black kids?

the rest of your post just gets more bat guano crazy with your silly assumptions.

once again, the race baiter in this story was the racist POS who spray painted N-word, not some fantasy generic SJW that you are so obsessed with.

Uh... He wasn't talking about just being poor and black in America, he was talking about being black, regardless of social and economic status. You still won't get it though because you are a victim too, right?

Have you ever met someone, who after you've told a story to, just has to tell their story and they start off saying, "that's nothing, here's what happened to me"? You are that guy, annoying as fuck.

By and large, no, blacks are treated worse than whites by police.

Where did I say I'm a victim? I come from a middle class background, attended good schools, and lived in safe neighborhoods all my life. Sorry I annoy you?

One might think that the evidently better opportunities you've had than many/most would mean that you'd logically have more enlightened, considered and less biased (at least by significantly negative experiences) opinions, but I guess not. My background I'd say was lower to middle class (my parents' business went under which affected most of my childhood), the schools I attended were pretty average and I lived in safe neighbourhoods all my life. The UK is a far, far smaller place than the US is and has approximately a quarter of the US's population, and yet I'm not stupid enough to believe that I can speak for people whose backgrounds are entirely different from mine and live in places far from the handful of locations I've moved to in my life. That's just aside from the fact that I've had maybe five interactions with the police myself, and I've seen in passing maybe another 50, compared to how many public-police interactions occur every single day?

It's one thing to say "in my experience", though qualifying the extent of one's experience is useful to the person you're saying it to, it's another thing entirely to claim that you know how a different ethnic group is treated in every part of the vast country you live in.

Personally I like James as a basketball player. Lots of haters out there though. Since he was very young, he's had a huge spot light on him. He's done extremely well, while many have not. I don't know if I would have stayed on the straight and narrow with that much money, popularity, etc.

On this topic, whoever did this should be punished obviously. It's wrong and sad to see. Probably someone who did it for bball reasons, maybe a Warriors fan. Timing of it all. Probably cameras on the gates? Seems likely it's a very affluent neighborhood, has to be cameras somewhere. I don't agree with all of his stances on political issues, but there is zero room for this. No matter who did it.

Why would a rival fan spray a racial slur? That makes zero sense. You want to get under his skin call him something like choker or choke artist. The timing is suspect for sure...but the message? Doesn't add up to me. Golden State roster is 14/15 black players.
