Leaked nVidia GeForce2 GTS 3.15.01.02.00 BIOS File

I didn't even know the BIOS on the Geforce2 cards could be upgraded. Is there some kind of Video BIOS flash utility included?

Wow, this is a good find. I checked out the PDF file and apparently there are new downloadable BIOSes for all Nvidia cards from the TnT all the way to the GF3 (hey, that rhymes!)

Flashing any bios is a scary thing for me. I've never done it on my Abit mobo but have done it on my old Dell. Dell's downloadable bios comes in the form of a boot floppy. Easy stuff. But Iv'e never gone thru the whole "Awardflash utility" thing. '

I'd be very interested to see someone with a GF2GTS 32mb card do a standard 3DM2001 run. Flash the bios and do a new run and compare scores. Any takers? 😀

i'm in for wanting to know how these new bioses work out.

Can't hurt to try and squeeze a lil more performance out of my GF2 MX. 🙂

yeah I think video card bios updates are new to most of us. My geforce2 GTS is more than a year old (Paid $270 for it) so I'm sure its got a pretty dated BIOS.

Shiiva,

ALLRIGHT!! Finally someone who paid more for their card than mine! 😀 All this time, I thought I was the only one who paid $245 for his card...you must've gotten yours right when it came out. Thanks for making me feel SO much better! 😉

Also, yeah, I've never heard of a videocard bios update either....I'm a bit embarassed to admit that I didn't even know that videocards HAD a bios. 😱

Hey, now you two simmer down there! I got a steal on mine - $320. It's a 64MB card, but I got it back when the best price was $400 anywhere else. 😛

Ok, maybe I'm just dumb or something...where is the flashing utility itself?

<< I thought I was the only one who paid $245 for his card...you must've gotten yours right when it came out. >>

people will be saying the same about the geforce 3 in a year 😀 id like to see some scores also.

matrox used to have bios updates for their G200 card all the time. its pretty easy, just follow the directions, and DO IT FROM DOS!

I recall flashing the video bios for cards dating waaaay back to the early 90s. I wonder what this is intended to address?

Bump for good thread and more ideas and MAYBE a brave soul to do it! (Not me!) \me say "Bwuck-bwuck-bwuck"

If I can find a new BIOS for my ASUS GF3 so that I can enable Sidebanding and Fast Writes.....I'll do it.... 🙂

I havent found any new bioses for my asus 6800 deluxe... but then again I don't have any problems with it.

But I do remember when I upgraded the bios for my hercules stingray 128 (8mb) 2d/3d with voodoo rush! And that flash went well... but I didn't notice any difference though.

lol when I got at $270 that was a "hot deal" in July 2000.
It was going for $299 everywhere else and I got someone on egay to sell it to me for $270. A real steal at the time. I vowed never to pay more than $250 for a video card after that 🙂

althought when the Geforce3 gets to $270 I'm gonna be real tempted...the only thing thats stopped me right now is waiting for the Nforce + palomino

Well, I paid 230 for my GTS 32 megger. Anyway. I flashed a Viper550 card once without a prob.
I'll try doing the 3dmark2001 before and after results tomorrow. Too tired and lazy to do it now. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

JJ650, you are The Man! Please DO let us know...if you don't fry your card and get good results, I do my card as well!

Also, Shiva112, I posted this thread the other day on this GF3 card from Absolute. When you factor in the retail prices on the included game bundle, the card costs about $250. It includes full versions of NOLF, Dronez and MDK2. Granted, NOLF and MDK2 are old titles that most folks have (I do not and would like to have NOLF) but Dronez is new and got decent reviews. BTW, this card did well, according to the reviewer. Just thought I'd throw this in for kicks! I haven't noticed any other manufacturer's throwing in bundles of this magnitude/quality...hmmmm.

I notice that there seem to be 2 files for the GF2 GTS line - g2gts.scp is mentioned in the PDF file, but nv15.scp is not. What is nv15.scp for?

Duh, never mind, I'm an idiot. 😕

The nice thing about flashing a AGP Video Card bios is that if it doesnt work you can stick a PCI Video Card in so you have a chance to reflash the AGP card. Not like a motherboard where you make a mistake and your dead.

Are there BIOS edititors where you can change the default speed of a Geforce? I know what my relative has a TNT2 overclocked to 175 mhz through the BIOS.
