It is an option when settting up a scheduled recording. Click 'configuration' then the 4th tab, then press the 'add' button. you will then see the 'silent recording' check box in the lower left corner of the dialog box.

Thanks for looking.

I would guess that Silent Record simply mutes the audio device, and so you'd need to be sure that of the two audio devices chosen, you don't have the same record line also selected as the audio-out line... sorry I'm not in front of the system right now so I don't recall the exact terminology.

audio-out control line = line out
audio recording line = analog mix(line/cd/aux/tad/pc)

is that what everyone else uses?

Mindless1, I think you may be onto something, because when I press the mute button on the pvr, the line in is muted in the sound control in windows.

You don't want to select the whole mixer, instead select only the input line... I added an internal jack to mine to keep all wiring inside the system to plug into the motherboard, so I select "Aux" as the input/recording line, but this card as-shipped uses the sound card line-in jack on the rear, so choose "Line-In".

Mindless1, Thanks for the info, but unfortunately, I don't see a 'line in' choice for the audio recording line. I only see the analog mix, mdi synth, What U hear, s/pdif-in, cd digital, microphone and wave. I am using a sb audigy 2 for the sound card. Should I have a line in choice?

Whatever it's calling the jack on the back, is what you want. You're looking in the PVR app, NOT the mixer, right? I don't know.

New Version 031126 of PVR App Released - Direct File Link ~17.8MB, slow

Hmmm, only two days after the last release. Of particular interest is that this version doesn't list Win9x/ME support as did the prior versions. Unfortunately I never did get any version of the FM app working in Win98SE, and tried WinXP but it still generates an error msg when i trying to open files or click record/play button, similar to:
The instruction at "0x77f52cd0" referenced memory at "0x69626b20".
The memory could not be "written".
Sometimes the numbers vary though, "instruction at 0x77f536f7" referenced memory at "0x00000000", and others. System is fully functional and stable otherwise.

Thanks mindless1

I downloaded the latest drivers and now my FM radio is working! Hadn't worked before. Listening to music now.

Thanks.

(record does generate an error, but it wasn't even playing for me before)

So, is the new software/driver upgrade any good?

Ive always had trouble with manual scheduled recordings. If I schedule a recording for 10PM, Winfast PVR opens at 10PM, but doesnt record. Anyone else ever had this problem? I would like to upgrade if its stable...

mnkyboy311, i too had this problem some time ago, an upgrade fixed it for me.

Only two problems i still have is that I can not silently record a sheduled program
And sometimes when I shedule somethng the pvr software thinks there is an overlap and won't let me set the record time. There is no overlap of shcedule, so I don't know why it is complaining. Only thing I can think of is that the db that the info is stored in is corrupt from so many upgrades. I may remove everything and try again.

Tonight my Winfast PVR for this card developed terrible problems - jerky motion that wouldn't resolve even after a reboot of my Win2000 machine. So, I uninstalled the PVR and the drivers, downloaded the latest (12/16 and 12/19) and installed. The problems resolved and I'm extra pleased that the lip synch problems I had with recorded programs are largely resolved. There's still a slight delay of the video behind the audio, but I don't see that it's accentuated in the recordings like they always were for me. Also, one of my channels that used to look pretty crummy now looks pretty sharp! I think they really did some stuff, especially with the drivers. They used to be the same old drivers.

Has anyone found a revision history for all these new driver/app releases ? I wonder if there are any new features.

Are there any programs to use this as a Digital Cable tuner?

Or are we pretty much stuck with normal cable? If we have digital cable, what can we do? Would we have to plug it in through the digital box from the cable company and THEN into the TV card?

Digital cable requires a digital tuner. This card doesn't have one and there's nothing software can do about that. You could use anything you like (including a cable or satellite co. box) that converts the signal to analog, at which point it'd be in a format the card can use... whether it be coax or S-Video, etc... is a lot better to avoid coax & the tuner on the card altogether if the digital tuner "box" provides S-Video or Composite plus audio out.

In other words, it'd work one way or the other but you'd have to change channels on the digital box.

Anyone know how this compares to the ATI TV WONDER? PRO REMOTE CONTROL EDITION? Just bought one of these, and was wondering if I should return it or not...

How can I get a clearer picture using this card? Ive tried using a "amplifier", but it doesnt seem to do anything. Any other ideas?

ALSO, is there a way to intergrate Dscaler with Winfast PVR? If not, how can I use Dscaler as a PVR?

Both the last posts, this is especially for you:

This thread is really long and around 1075 posts now. At the top right (and bottom right) there's a printer icon which you can click to get a printable version of the thread. When you have that, you can search the entire thread at once, whether you actually print it or not (I wouldn't, although you might want to copy and paste it into a text file for the day when you will no longer be able to access the thread, assuming you still want to use the card). Search on "wonder" or dscaler, and I swear you will get hits and probably find the answers to your questions. Good luck!

For anyone who is having trouble with the TitanTV app causing the invalid data message, try clearing you temporary internet files folder. For some reason TitanTV won't work with the winfast software if that folder is full.

I bought (and resold) it about 6 months ago and I remember a CR telling me they hadn't yet released good drivers for dx9 support so I had to reinstall windows and dx8 for it to work. Does this card works with DX9 now?

My initial report of improved picture with the new drivers and PVR were evidently premature. I now feel that the picture is flawed. I'll try installing a previous version of the drivers and see if there's an improvement.
