*UPDATE 05/05/04: "DELUXE" version is back at Newegg and price is a low $42.00! CLICK HERE
*UPDATE 03/27/04: New drivers were released recently and can be found if you CLICK HERE
*UPDATE 03/17/04: "Deluxe" version no longer on Newegg, but "Expert" is available for $51.00. "Deluxe" is still
available from other retailers. Price of "Expert" will probably fall to the lows that the "Deluxe"
reached (around $42) but it might take a while.

It was a good deal at $60.99, then price dropped to $56.99 shipped (when I bought mine), then it dropped to $54.99, then it dropped to $51.00, then to $49.00. Then to $46.00. Then $42.00. Back up again and then out of stock. Now, for a Mother's Day Blowout, it is back in stock at Newegg and has hit a low of $42.00 shipped again!!

Happy Holidays!!

I'm interested in getting one of these but I'd like to know how it works...

I have a GeForce 4 with no video in, how does it provide the picture?

Is there some kinda through-port on the card, ie your AGP video card connects to it and then the TV card connects to your monitor?

PagannagaP, the card is independent of your AGP video board and accepts a TV signal, S-Video signal or RCA composite signal. You don't interface at all with the graphics card. However, you must run a cable between the TV Tuner card and your Sound Card in order to output sound from the TV signal. A cable is provided for that.

It's a great Tuner and LeadTek's driver support has been good.

Actually, there is interface through your AGP card through the use of video overlay. Its not a very publicized feature b/c pretty much every video card on today's market supports video overlay. What happens is the tuner/decoder sends signals through the PCI bus which are then sent to your AGP card, which passes it through to your VGA output of your video card. Due to the high CPU utilization and bus saturation of video overlay (and programs like that DScaler used in conjunction with video overlay), you probably don't want to do much graphics intense apps while running your TV tuner.

Good price on a good card. This or the Asus TV880 is the way to go for Win2K or WinXP users looking for TV for less than $100.

If any video experts happen to read this--

Is there an equivalent of 2XSAI that can be applied to NTSC video signals?

Explanation: 2XSAI is a setting on some game emulator programs that will interpolate extra pixels, rendering four pixels where there was one before, for example. What I am wondering is if there is a way to harness a computer's CPU to get better video quality from a normal video signal.

Yes, this card and any CX848/CX878 encoder/decoder based card can use Dscaler to de-interlace/interpolate/scale your image using your CPU rather than any external line-doubler or de-interlacer/scaler.

I'm reading through the Dscaler website, but to make sure I understand the issue I'm asking about: if I take a video signal that has 400 lines of horizontal resolution and "blow it up" on my computer to 800 horiz. lines, is it interpolating 800 horiz. individual pixels, or is it outputting 400 2-pixel-wide lines?

It scales it based upon the input resolution and the final output resolution. So 800x600 to 1600x1200 would essentially be 4 pixels to every 1 pixel. It doesn't just double existing lines, it actually runs the info through de-interlacing and scaling algorhythms to get a de-interlaced and scaled image.

Holy $hit, a $4 savings, Better get this fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SCREW IT MORTAGE THE TRAILER AND BUY 5 OF DEM!!!!!!!!

Can anyone confirm the streo works? Not just it has an option to choose mono or stereo.
I want someone to actually confirm they hear stereo sound.

This is only good for cable users though, right? I mean it has a TV tuner but only works with cable I'd guess for changing channels?

Would it be better to buy this ($57) plus an ATI Radeon 7500 ($78) = $135

OR

Just buy the ATI All In Wonder 7500 for $126?

All in wonder is more integrated solution and takes only one AGP slot, but it does not have FM radio.. and if you upgrade your 7500 later you'll need to buy another tv card..

Depends if you are a gamer or not and frequently upgrade. A tuner card is nice b/c it gives you flexibility. They often outlive every other component in your system.

Couldn't resist, the $4 tilted the scale for me.

Like I don't spend enough time in front of the screen as it is, now I'm gonna have Picture in picture...jeesh!
