Anyone else notice that when editing mpegs, further down the timeline you go the more voice and video gets mismatched?

Any workaround for this?

Unfortunately, no. Editing mpeg2 isn't possible. I used to capture in mpeg2 and then tried to convert to divx, but the sound/video sync gets all messed up.

I've searched all over the Internet, used various programs, but couldn't find anything that works.

Finally I read a post on a forum describing this problem. Apparently, there is nothing you can do about it. Its just a flaw in the way our card records to mpeg2. Unfortunately the files are uneditable.

If you want high quality and don't mind using disk space (and don't need to edit), then mpeg2 is the best bet.

Otherwise, I suggest trying uncompressed avi and then converting it to divx (or something else), because it does not suffer from synch problems.

My refurbished Deluxe just got delivered. Seems like they sent me a brand new one. Came with everything sealed. The static bag looks like it has not been opened.

Time to test it

any problem with just recording in uncompressed avi as you say, then converting to mpeg2?

Ok, so I'm gonna post this here. (I don't think I've posted it here yet.) But I just use my card to tape shows, then delete them. Every format I use is HUGE!!! (mpeg2, divx, avi) I have the diskspace, but it just seems unnecessary to have these huge files every time. I tried playing around with the divx settings, but still can't get the files small.

Remember, I just watch, and then delete. So I don't need anything super special. Can someone post or PM me on what my Divx settings should be.

I suck.

Oh yeah.....still LOVING this card. And I'm ALMOST where I want the remote to be with the Girder program.

I'm interested in this. I want to build a box to record all the football games for the upcoming season so I can burn them to VCD for watching again during the summer.

I hate baseball, and VHS sucks.

Is this going to let me do that? Easily?

How do I stop WFWIZ from loading at startup? Everytime I disable WFWIZ in msconfig a new one appears after opening up WinFast Wizard.

I'd like to load WinFast Wizard manually when I want to use the remote.

Hmm...what version of the software are you using??

Because I am using the 30130 release of the software and I have no problems preventing the wizard from loading using msconfig (furthermore, I am able to avoid using the wizard altogether by using girder to execute the tv tuner software).

I have a feeling that the latest releases of the software require the wizard to be loaded in order to use the tv or fm tuner with the remote. Without the wizard loaded, the remote will not control anything, even if you manually open the tv tuner. This is why I have been forced to refrain from upgrading and have stayed with the 30130 release. Maybe try using the 30130 release and see if it solves your problems.

It supports Winamp 2.x, DScaler, Zoom Player, and Winfast FM, although I haven't programmed the last 2 programs yet. If anyone wants to help with the button programming, they can do some programming in this file and send me a copy. I will be adding quite a bit of stuff in the coming months. Read the txt file included before anything else. You can post back with suggestions, etc. in this thread too.

*EDIT* I have made a bunch of updates since I posted this, such as some basic button programming for Zoom Player and Timeshifting in DScaler.

Thx works great. Please post the updated when you get channel changing and volume working with WinFast FM. Nice work.

I can't seem to find info on this.. How do I make timed recordings off my cable box? Does it change the channel using an Infrared controller? If not does any tuner on the market have this feature? I haven't read anything about this feature so it probably doesn't exist. It would just be really sweet if it could though and become a viable replacement for tivo/replay.

Someone mention there is another card from Leadtek coming out.. I went to their website and didn't see any info. Is there a link somewhere?

Bad news...It seems like the Winfast FM has its own remote receiving code which conflits with Girder's control. I have no idea about how to work around this problem, anyone have some idea as to how I can get around this?

On another note, since my last post I have added more stuff again. You can now choose tracks in the Winamp playlist by using the numpad. For example, if I wanted to play track 12, I would just press 12 on the keypad. There is also a global sleep timer function.

Keyser soze, do you know how to use Girder well? If you do, maybe you and I should collaborate and make the ultimate Winfast GML file.

How do I get it to encode directly into divx? The option isnt on the dropdown listing of codecs, though I have the codec installed on my system. Right now I'm encoding in mpeg2 and using xmpeg to convert to divx, but why not cut out the middleman eh?

Are you able to successfully convert from mpeg2 to divx without any synch errors btwn audio and video? Because there are a bunch of us who have been trying to do this and we've all been horribly unsuccessful. I've heard from internet forums that our card records to mpeg2 in such a manner that it makes it virtually unedtiable for very large files.

Do your mpeg2 to divx files have synch errors (synch errors will only show up in large files towards the end)? If not, please share with us your method and the software versions you are running.

Also, about the detect for the divx codec; the leadtek software doesn't seem to update the available codecs once installed. I think the only way I was able to solve this was to uninstall and reinstall the leadtek software to get it to recognize my new divx codec. There may be another way, but I am not aware of it.

anyone know if intervideo's windvr works with this card. windvr works pretty well with my current tv card (xtasy everything). windvr will record straight to mpeg1 and mpeg2 using software and it does look pretty good.

I think you should be able to do this no problem. To turn on the machine, set the turn on time in your PC's BIOS. My motherboard is an MSI KT3 Ultra2, but most modern PC's (practically all, I think) support this. Have a shortcut to the Winfast FM module in your startup folder, so it's always on when your machine boots. All you have to do to hear your FM is have your speakers or stereo powered up. You could arrange that a number of ways, including computer speakers or a timer.
