For those of you that have or had the "device not found errors" with the PVR and FM applications like I did, it seems the eeprom of the card was altered. I have just heard about this problem and it has something to do with the installation and removal of drivers. I tried uninstalling Leadtek's drivers and installing the btwincap drivers, and somewhere in the process the eeprom was altered. The software checks that the card is Leadtek's before running, so this is the problem.

Someone give me a quick recap/comparison...too long to read through.
I need one for college dorm...all I'll be doing with that is to watch TV, not even going to record.

How well is the remote...can I do without?

And most of all, ATi TV Wonder VE $50 - $10MIR @ BestBuy or this?

I finally broke down and ordered this thing from Newegg. Hopefully now I can play all my GC games that don't support Progressive Scan without having to connect it to a TV...

having trouble updating to new drivers. i've tried going from system properties -->update drivers, but it won't use the new drivers saying it couldn't find better match.

i tried uninstalling drivers, but after reboot, windows xp automatically installs previous drivers and it never asks me for drivers.

what to do?

draggoon0 1,

Don't do the automatic driver search. When you update the drivers, choose "Install from a list or specific location." In the next popup, choose "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install." The next box should show "Winfast 2000 XP WDM TV Tuner" or whatever driver you are updating. There are 4 to update. Click on "Have Disk", the go to the folder where the downloaded and extracted drivers are located. You should be able to update each driver this way.

Hope this helps,
Randy

I have recently recieved a patch for the PVR programs that has a workaround for the problem of the "device not found issues" due to the alteration of the eeprom. If anyone wants it, just give me an e-mail at wctkdman AT hotmail DOT com. Thanks to flyneo over at the DScaler forums.

Here is also a link to leadtek's ftp site, where the reg patch can be found:

Reg Patch

I also had the device not found errors earlier, but somehow the problem just seemed to magically solve itself on persistent installation tries so I never had to use the patch.

That is not the same patch I am talking about. The patch that I have patches the exe's of the PVR software so the TV and FM applications don't check for the ID of the Leadtek card. The altered eeproms don't have data that matches with the PVR's expected data, so the PVR software won't run.

Oh ok....whoops!

I wonder what the patch on the ftp site does.

hi i'm having problems recording with this tv card from my cable box
here's my setup:

cable co-ax antenna---> splitter

----> cable modem ---> router ---> pc

----> pioneer cable (ba6310ca) ----> leadtek tunercard (same pc)

i set cable box to channel 3
i load winfast pvr , went to 'channel list & freq table' tab
area = custom defined
antenna = cable

when i hit record, the screen goes black but i hear audio
during playback, the video shows but no sound, wtf?? (using sblive)
(yes i'm using w2k sp3 so i guess i'm joining the club)

thanks in advance

i seen this problem before too...

for me it meant a codec problem.... the sound codec/settings worked so i heard sound but the video codec was wrong so no vid.

try different codec combos in your "capture profile settings"

if sound isn't being recorded, it's very likely that u've set the recording device to microphone instead of line-in.

goto control panel -> sounds and audio device -> audio tab -> underneath "sound recording" click volume -> and make sure the [ ]select underneath line-in is checked and not microphone.

if u hear stuff from line-in doesnt mean that what u hear is being recorded. hope this helps!

thanks, did the update, but still have sap problem. others report that latest drivers fixed that right?

sap problem being, that if you record channel that has sap using third party app, you get both english and sap audio at same time, and record both

I have another problem...

When I record TV programs using the scheduler, there is a loud 1 khz tone. I think its feedback. However, this problem does not occur when a just click on the record button.

I have nforce2 mb, so I think it may have to do with the complicated sound control panel not configured correctly. Anyone run into this problem?

BTW, audio is set to default, line in for both audio in and out and capture audio from video.

These cards use a TWAIN driver that can be conflicted with other TWAIN devices. The fix is to rename the suffix of any files in the 2 Windows Twain dirs then reinstall any you might need after the cards working.

There's also a registry twain remover out there somewhere too.

:) Received (pretty quickly), a reply from Leaktek support regarding the W2000 failure to shut down issue. Their reply:

We support some solution for you: (Please follow it then check everything)

After install DirectX 9
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

1. You could download the latest driver and PVR AP with the address ( Download the latest driver & PVR AP )
http://www.leadtek.com.tw/support/download.asp?pronameid=304
2. We suggest you need reinstall the TV2000 XP card.
Before you reinstall the latest driver, please to confirm you had remove all of the old driver and applications ( WinFast PVR ).
(After you removed WinFast PVR, you can delete the old directory of the old WinFast PVR from \program files\winfast)
3. You could trid to update your motherboard and VGA's chipset driver to the latest version.
4. You can try another slot to reinstall again.

(Before you install TV2000 card, you need install DirectX 9)
After installation, Please check the 4 devices in the "Device Manager" are working perfect.
WinFast TV2000 XP WDM Audio Capture
WinFast TV2000 XP WDM Crossbar
WinFast TV2000 XP WDM TVTuner
WinFast TV2000 XP WDM Video Capture
After installation, then install the WinFast PVR

* You also can read the attach file to reinstall TV2000 card step by step.

Best regards,
Marketing Department, Leadtek Research Inc.

Did everything: installed DirectX 9; uninstalled app and drivers; downloaded new drivers and app; unzipped drivers
restarted
canceled installl wizard & reinstalled drivers via device manager
reinstalled app

Win 2000 now shuts down normally without manual intervention. I think the latest drivers (June) are the key.

For the money, this is a fine card....Now to record!

Any of you people who have installed the new drivers and software:

1. Does it do anything for the lip-synch problems? They're always there but 3 - 5 times worse when you record.

2. Can you now fast forward at 4x?

3. Are the recordings very much dimmer than live TV?

4. Do scheduled recordings default to Mono?

5. Are there still problems with the display of Mono versus Stereo not being accurate?

6. Has anybody noticed if any other problems have been resolved?

i.e I'm wondering what known problems they've fixed. Did they post a list of issues addressed?

This thread is no longer about a hot deal, it has become a tech support thread. Perhaps a sticky in Video forum???

Installed all the new stuff yesterday. I was wrong, the drivers ARE NOT new releases (only one file is: wf2kvcap.sys); I must have got too excited when I first saw them and overlooked that they all still said June xx, 2002!

So it looks like it was mostly just a software update. Anyway, there didn't seem to be any major improvements. The teletext function doesn't seem to be too interesting. All I get is closed captioning when I press the teletext button. Apparently, teletext can give you much more interesting live information, but I am not sure how widespread it is in America.

Has anyone else got teletext to work for more interesting uses?

I switched back to the 30130 release because the new release still suffers from the problems of the last release; in order for the remote to work with leadtek's pvr tuner, the WinfastWizard MUST be loaded in the system tray. Before the last two releases, the remote would work regardless of whether the Wizard was loaded or not (which makes it much easier to use Girder to start up leadtek's software, instead of using the resource hogging WinfastWizard).

Time to make this card even hotter. Here is the GML file for Girder I have been working on for the past few months.

http://www.unr.nevada.edu/~dluong/WinfastGML.zip

It supports Winamp 2.x, DScaler, Zoom Player, and Winfast FM, although I haven't programmed the last 2 programs yet. If anyone wants to help with the button programming, they can do some programming in this file and send me a copy. I will be adding quite a bit of stuff in the coming months. Read the txt file included before anything else. You can post back with suggestions, etc. in this thread too.

*EDIT* I have made a bunch of updates since I posted this, such as some basic button programming for Zoom Player and Timeshifting in DScaler.

EDIT: All gone

EDIT: Here is a comment from the non refurbised card, "I bought a refurbished and it took me $45. Although it said "OEM barebone," but the box contains all components, includes remote control, all cable, etc.
This TV card's image and friendly user interface are also very perfect. Easy to control and powerful functions.
Any way, it is worthy your money. "

So it looks like it might come with everything.

Here is a treat for the next 4 people. 4 in stock

WOW, great price. The description never mentions that it is the deluxe version (stereo, upgraded remote), but the pictures are all of the deluxe version.

Regardless, deluxe or non-deluxe, this is a GREAT price!

Hmm! Did not see that part, thanks for pointing that out. Thinking if I should cancel now.

Well, if you are worried, before you cancel, email them and make sure you are getting what you want.

At this price tho...even a non-deluxe model is pretty good. You will only be sacrificing stereo sound (which, quite frankly isn't that great in the first place) and a better remote (which you may or may not care for; I like the advanced remote because I can program a lot of buttons to use for other programs using Girder).
