I tried skimmin' through the posts but couldn't find anything with my problem...which is everytime I boot with the tuner in my PC I get a BSOD. It worked fine the first boot, got halfway through installing from CD and BAM BSOD, reboot, and get BSOD on every boot with the ledtek installed. Take the ledtek out, and everythings just fine.

OH yeah, specs:
Epox 8K3A
AMD 1700+
Win2k Pro SP3
Directx 9
512MB RAM
GF4 TI 4200
Creative Audigy Gamer
two 80gig 8mb cache drives

Would someone PLEASE explain to me why it is that the DAY I decide to place my order for this card from Newegg, Leadtek decideds it will post information regarding a newer version of the card?? Haha, my luck, this sucks. Without going and digging does Newegg offer a return/exchange bit if I wanted to wait for the new card?? Probably not but its worth asking.

Does anyone know what the difference between this card and the "Expert" version are? Can't be that much better, though I did notice the new card supports "32-bit PCI 2.2 bus mastering" vs only 2.1 with the Deluxe.

Tap

UPDATE: Just did a bit more checking and it appears the "Expert" version will use a newer 10-bit decoder, the Conextant CX23880.

Have you tried another slot? Tried the card in a different machine? Do you see a message at the top of the BSOD screen? You could try removing other cards and see if that makes a difference.

Also, you could refrain from installing from the CD and just load the latest drivers + application downloaded from Leadtek's website.

Leadtek is set to release a new version of the card. New Card Here

Perhaps with the release of this new card they'll update the software all at once.

Perhaps my theory was right, it looks like leadtek just released a new version of the PVR app here:

PVR download page

Unfortunately, since my card still hasn't returned from warranty work, I cannont tell if this release is a new version and whether any significant changes have been made. It looks like a new version however, as leadtek used a new all in one installer for this version.

i downloaded the newest PVR program (ALL_WinFastPVR_30513.exe) and it kept crashing on me. the tuner would display the video, but the program would freeze. i went back to ALL_WinFastPVR_30319.exe and it worked.

anyone have any luck w/ ALL_WinFastPVR_30513.exe?

Can anyone tell me why Im not getting any sound? I hooked up the S-Video and Audio on my VCR. I get the Video but so sound through my speakers. What Im trying to do is copy a VHS tape to my PC then Im going to convert it to a DVD. But cant get any sound yet to even record to my H/D. From the VCR I have the audio going to the BLUE connector then back out of the card with the GREEN connector to the built in sound on the M/B board input BLUE. Then back connector to Green for the speakers. I can play songs and hear sound with in windows but nothing when viewing a tape from the VHS tape using WINFAstPVR?!

I dont know if I have it wired up in correctly or maybe in the configuration is setup wrong?

I would think I have it wired up correctly because I get sound from the TV when playing it.

I just bought a new VCR JVC. Note I tried hooking up the the to the front input RCA jack and Video no picture. Then I hooked it up to the RCA jack in the back of the VCR and I got the picture. Thing is shouldnt of the front jack worked? Making me think something is wrong with the VCR?

On the Audio side of things I bought a cable with the small mini jack running it from the BLUE connector on the card and have both a single RCA end going stright to mono on the VCR Audio jack. Would it make more since to get a splitter and use a Y-connector to plug into both R and L audio on the VCR for better sound?

Thanks!

I'm having a slight problem with using this card with my VCR.

This VCR is OLD SKOOL. And I want to run some video's through the card, to capture/convert. I hook up the VIDEO from my VCR to the Y-Cable to the card. Do I HAVE to have the VCR hooked up to the s-video jack as well? Or can I just use the Standard RC Cable for Video.

I can get the sound, but no picture at all when I change the source.

Does anyone know? I appreciate any advice I can get.

NO...All you need is the the other one coming off the Y-Splitter being the RCA jack then back to the VCR.

The S-Video is probably for a DVD player I would think. Reguardless you dont need to use it going to the VCR. Reason I know is Im doing the samething right now. I just got everything hooked up and have my sound working also now. In my above post I was having problems but was just a configuation problem.

I can get the sound, but no picture at all when I change the source.
Check your settings/configuration in PVR. Also if it helps my RCA jack in in the R side of the audio on my VCR. Also are you sure the VCR works ok?

Good Luck!

Hey guys and gals...I've just encountered some problems with my Leadtek PVR application and could really use some help.

Everything has been working more or less fine since I bought it last August.

Last night I connected my computer to a tv to watch a movie through my GeForce4 video card. Since my computer was out, I decided to clean my computer from dust build up this morning. Well after cleaning and connecting everything back up normally to my monitor I tried to launch my WinfastTV PVR app to watch some TV and I got the following error:

"Capture stopped! Device may be lost"

When I try to play the FM tuner I get this message:

"FM Radio device not found!"
<EX: 80010002>
"Cannot open recording device"

I've tried everything, reinstalling the old drivers/old apps, new drivers/new apps, ....deleting registry keys...everything! Nothing has solved the problem.

However, I know its not a hardware problem or a driver problem because, oddly enough, DScaler works fine, suggesting that the hardware and drivers are fine and the software is buggy?

I downloaded the latest software off leadtek's ftp site:
ALL_TVAP_30130.zip (softare with EPG)
and
ALL_TVDRV_30130.zip (drivers)

These are the latest driver/software releases (i was using them fine before today!).

Has anyone encountered anything like this...Any ideas on whats wrong?

ARGGHHH! Got my card back today from Leadtek...actually they just shipped me a brand new card, but I have the same problems!!!

I guess it must be a software problem or a conflict with my machine.

I've downloaded the latest drivers/app (which is getting increasingly confusing...the ftp site is a maze and there are endless versions of the software posted) but I have the same problems. Yet, DScaler works fine....??? Plus the card had been working fine for 7 months!

I suppose this underscores the advisability of having an ironclad (huh?) backup/restoration strategy. Food for thought. Good Luck! If you don't have a way of restoring the "last good backup" you may have to reinstall your OS. Myself, I use Norton Ghost 2001. Were I doing it I would Ghost before restoring the last good backup or reinstalling the OS from scratch or restoring an elemental install of the OS (Ghosted shortly after installation of OS, basic drivers, etc.). Then, in case it turns out that a currupted OS/registry is not the cause, you could go back to where you are now and try some other things.

Ok....well I'm happy to report that somehow everything is fixed...I am really not sure what it was...but this is what I did.

I downloaded and installed the latest nVidia detonator drivers and latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers and rebooted.

I then uninstalled the Winfast PVR software/drivers/cleaned registry keyes/deleted Winfast Program File folder...

I then rebooted and did not install the drivers for the card when asked.

I then downloaded and installed Microsoft DirectX 9.0a and rebooted.

This time I installed the drivers for the card and add new hardware wizard to the latest driver release folder (ALL_TVDRV_30130).

Then I rebooted again.

Then I installed the latest PVR software: ALL_WinFastPVR_30513.exe and rebooted again.

Then miraculously my PVR software worked again....and now I'm watching TV through Leadtek's software. Although, I have absolutely no idea what caused the problem in the first place, nor do I know what solved the problem.

Ok...well now that my card is working again I installed the absolutely latest version of the PVR software (ALL_WinFastPVR_30513.exe) from the ftp section of Leadtek's website. I couldn't see any noticeable improvements, but there were some new options for recording to DVD formats.

However, most annoying with the newer versions of the PVR software is that the Leadtek Wizard MUST be running in the system tray for the remote to work while the TV is on. With previous versions of the software I could use Girder to execute PVR software instead of using the system tray Wizard. However if I try this now, when I press the power button on the remote, Girder opens the PVR software...but the remote will not work for the TV unless the PVR software is executed via the remote WITH the wizard in the tray. This sounds confusing, but basically what I'm saying is this....to use the remote with the TV on, the Wizard must be loaded in the system tray.

Because of this, I'm staying with the previous version of the software (30130).

I do a lot of FM --> MP3 recording and suppose I can get my signal this way instead of having to have my receiver on (a hassle). If I like this enough, I may get another for my other system. I also have some SVHS tapes I'd like to digitize. Being able to view TV on my computer monitor is something I'd like to try. I already record SVHS tapes - time shifting, but if this gives similar results that would be cool. I'm trying to imagine the advantage of a remote. What do you use it for? If you are at your computer, why do you want a remote?

Does this use the same antenna for FM as for TV?

I got some ideas on this card from this now-archived thread at anandtech.

Happy holidays!

If you are watching TV you can point the monitor towards a couch, or your bed if your computer is in your bedroom like mine.

The chipmunk effect is annoying and because of it I never FF. Instead, I use the mouse (yes, to my knowledge, this requires using the mouse and this is the reason I'm not so hot on the remote) to move forward a couple of minutes. When jumping through commercial breaks I go forward at least 2 minutes until program material appears on the display and then use -4x to rewind until the very end of the commercials. Using this technique is very efficient, however only if your files are not too big, which makes it harder to move forward 2 minutes with the mouse. To facillitate that I have a 3 GB file size limit set in the PVR software.

Does anyone know of a free radio recieving app that works with this card? The bundled one won't work, and I have tried reinstalling everything. I tried bRadio, but that creates major havok with my machine. Just to let you guys know, I found that bRadio has major conflicts with Girder. It BSOD's all the time when trying to control bRadio with Girder. Anyways, I just need another free radio program to get finished programming my remote. Whenever I'm done, I could host the file for everyone to download - I have it programmed for Winamp, WinDVD, DScaler, and some other things like shutting down/suspending the computer.

yes, you need an internet connection to get TV listings. the TV2000XP uses http://www.titantv.com to display TV listings and set up PVR recordings.

i'd assume it's with all tv tuner cards. where else would they get the information?

I think some use menu+ that comes with many cable tv signals, which is the same thing rca's tvguide+ uses I think, I'm not sure on this though.
