For everyone that has this card, some kinda cool/good news.
With this remote, you can program it to perform OTHER functions. (Winamp, play DVD's, etc.) But BE WARNED, I haven't used this program much yet, but it does seem rather difficult at first. And it's not as user-friendly as you might think.
But I'm sticking with it, in hopes that I can get it to perform all the functions that I want it to.
Girder
Hope this captures the attention of SOMEONE way at the end of the thread

It just might be your Cable Signal. I have the same problem with some channels. On my TV it shows fine, but when I record things on my computer, it shows up with problems. Remember, that your monitor has a higher resolution than your tv, so you're gonna notice the "imperfections" more on a monitor. (For lack of a better word.)
(Did I answer that correctly?)

The wierd thing is.. It happens on both time warner and adelphia. I recently movied and noticed the samet thing on adelphia.. It looks really bad on my monitor.. Not sure what else to do.. To be honest, I haven't even watched anything on my computer due to the poor quality.

I get the same issue with titantv on how it just defaults to "mono" during recording. I haven't found any setting on how to change this.
But has anyone else had any trouble with titantv recently? When I tried to use it last night, I kept getting "Data not valid".

How is the quality of these things now? Is it anywhere near that of an actual TV yet? I have a Hauppauge PCI TV or something like that I bought about 3 years ago that has horrible picture. I have never used it becasue the picture is so bad. Would this be a good upgrade or has a better card came out since this post started? I am running Win XP. Also, are most of you still able to use your comuter normally while capturing video? I will have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe with a XP1700 at hopefully 2ghz, 512mb ram and a WD Raptor.
Thanks,
Brian

As far as the remote, Girder, etc., I don't find myself using the remote all that much. For one thing, when watching recorded TV, the remote is apparently useless for skipping commercials. I have to use my mouse to jump 2+ minutes. Since I'm that close to the mouse, I use my keyboard shortcuts (the arrow keys) to change channels and volume. There's not much more that the remote affords me. That's what I've found so far. If anyone has arguments with this or suggestions, etc., I'm all ears.

what's the best format to use when recording a tv show?
seems like .wmv is crappy...
mpeg-2 makes huge files...
what's recommended for something that's decent quality but not too big of a file for let's say an hour show

Well this kind of varies....some users can encode directly to a divx compressed format from a recording (I cannot do it with sports shows and other high motion shows).
Mpeg-2 provides some compression (and very good quality at optimal resolutions), but for some reason, due to the way the card encodes it, it is almost impossible to change into a divx format later without introducing serious audio sync problems.
So your best bet, and the most popular way of recording shows among leadtek tv tuner card users, is to record in uncompressed avi formats (really huge, but lossless files) and then encode later into a compressed divx, etc. format. Of course, this requires plenty of disk space.

I've been recording exclusively in "Optimal Quality" = MPEG2, but haven't tried converting to other formats. When I want to create smaller files I know I'll have to face a plethora of issues, but for now, I have lots of HD space and don't keep 99% of the stuff I record for more than a day. Thing is, I AWAYS have audio/video synch problems. Even when watching live TV I'd swear that the audio preceeds the video by a split second. My recordings have the same thing only considerably worse. It's not so bad you can't try to ignore it, but it's still a drag. I'd think there might be something that can be done about this. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe there's even a utility that you could run that would allow you the delay the audio by a configurable discreet amount of time, say 1/4 second. It's all digital information. Technically, it has to be doable. Maybe we should all complain to Leadtek and they would fix the issue in a future version of the software.
