Have you tried removing the card, deleting the software and the like, reboot after a power-off. Do whatever to remove remnants; reboot again after power-off; then reinstall the card and software?

The general rule that worked for me on "some" issues like this was simply removing the card and letting Windows remove all the related cr*p.....

I would have PM you but you do not have it enabled.....

Well I did switch PCI slots with my NIC card and rebooted, but not in the order that you said....I'll try that too.

I might try to fresh install the card on my roomates computer and see what flys...that should give a pretty good idea if anything is wrong.

I turned on my PM ability, so it should work.
Hey guys, I urge you not to keep this exchange private. Should anyone else with this card have a similar problem your public contributions will be appreciated. I mean, this sounds like it could happen to anyone. I myself am fascinated, and I don't have this problem... yet. Good luck!

When I use Winfast FM scheduler, it starts recording okay, but when it comes time to shutdown, it goes through a shutdown sequence and I get a mfc42.dll page fault error. Wierd thing is when explorer is opened up, all the icons for each of the folders disappeared.

Thinking its a dll conflict, I removed all mfc42.dll except the one in the windows/system folder. Eventually replaced that one with the latest one. Even using the latest PVR software or drivers does not fix it.

Anyone else having similar problems?

I'm using win98 btw.

Ah, that really brings back memories. MFC42.DLL, I had my tousles with that. I'm trying to remember. I think it may have been involved with a deployment of Crystal Reports that wouldn't work correctly. However, your indication that you are having shutdown problems: are you talking about not being able to shut down Winfast PVR or Windows 98? I know at least 3 people (including myself) who has this card in a Windows 2000 SP3 machine and we don't get normal shutdown of Windows. The system appears to hang as it's shutting down and you have to hit the power button. This could be related. I have another machine with the same OS and card without the problem, however.

I don't think I understand your question. I'm using a TBSC in this machine. I'm using the Versajack for analog out. I suppose I could use digital out to my receiver if I wanted but right now I'm running analog 5.1 audio to my receiver.

The puter has no problems shutting down as long as the PVR is not used to record scheduled programs. The problem occurs when the PVR scheduler has completed its recording task and the program is reverting to the systray. Not only do I get the error, but the computer becomes unstable and could hang up, requiring a hard reset. Since my last post I have tried different versions of mfc42 with no avail.

Anyways, I think the hardware is awesome, but the software needs some serious debugging. Does the PVR software run better in XP? If so, maybe its time for an upgrade

One thing that i've noticed when using the tuner card and then trillian. It seems to make some really loud noises. So, to work around this... i've disables sounds in Trillian, and it seems to fix the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?

By the way... I'm running Windows XP.

Well regarding my bum card...i just got an RMA authorization, so within two weeks (hopefully) I should get a repaired or new card.

I don't know whether its hardware or software related, but leadtek's support seemed to just authorize an RMA rather than try to tackle the problem...so thats the route im going

Although, now I am having feelings that it is hardware related...when I tried to open DScaler, DScaler would open fine, but the Winfast PVR software would somehow intervene and load too and give the "Capture device lost" error msg. Of course, If I open DScaler again after this it works fine (although the IR capability seems to go off for no apparent reason). Im hoping that a new card will solve the problem.

When capturing from TV, is there some protection that only allows the playback to play correctly in WinPVR, but not in Windows Media Player 9? In WMP 9 I get this "little numeric keypad" icon jumping around on my screen, but it plays back fine in WinPVR.

Any ideas?.... And if it's b/c of WinPVR, any good alternatives?
Thanks.

Has anyone tried to run the Winfast wizard as a service in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, so you don't have to be logged on in order for your program to be recorded?

I can give it a shot, but was wondering if anyone has tried it yet?

No protection. That's the real signal but it's usually offscreen on your TV. WMP is showing you the entire screen. WinPVR crops the image on playback. You could probably resize the capture to crop it if you normally watch it on your computer.

Wow, this post is becoming a bit unwieldy and a help desk post.

Does anyone have a screwed up remote like me?

Basically it doesn't work anymore.

I forgot whether I rejiggered the hardware or maybe the software screwed itself.

Any ideas?

i got this card and have had all sorts of instability issues... :(

my computer seems to freeze often....

before this card, my computer was running fine but now that i have it installed, i get hard freezes and BSOD...

i thought it was seti@home but i really think it's the tv tuner card..

i've tried 2 pci slots and no luck

i'm trying a 3rd slot and hoping this will work...

if not i'll try to take the card out and run my computer.. hopefully it'll work fine... but oh well..

Hooked up to Dishnetwork, and it works fine.
Connect with coax and use channel 3 or 4, or for best quality, connect using svideo and seperate audio jacks.

I'm having a problem recording in MPEG-2 and DVD settings. As soon as I'm done recording, the video won't play back in WinFast's TV Tuner program (just says, "Could not play file"). WMP won't play it either ("No combination of filters could be found"). Only PowerDVD will play it, if I load it up.

I sent a sample file to a friend and it wouldn't play either. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the WinFast program.

Any ideas?

When I record via TitanTV, the default configuration is Mono. I always have to change it to Stereo. Is there a way to make the default Stereo? Why would they make the default Mono?
