ZakPC,

I assume you are talking about my Norton software problem? If so, thanks a bunch. I will give this a shot to see if I can fix my norton install.

The windows uninstall keys are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

They'll al be named in alpanumeric numbers so you'd have to select each one and look at the values on the right to find the correct one

This won't prevent startup services associated w/ it from running but will remove it from Add\Remove and keep it from being detected by a future setup

Ok, I must be doing something wrong. I unstalled everything using add/remove programs. Went to the registry and deleted the Leadtek key. Rebooted. Windows found drivers for hardware. Reinstalled the winfast software and...same problem. Tried again and this time I made sure to uninstall the drivers from the device manager and...same problem. Ideas?

BTW, what is the date on your drivers in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS folder? Mine are 12/13/2002. Is that my problem? I thought it was the app, but could it be that these files are out of date? Should I delete the three wf2k*.sys files before trying another install?

I really appreciate your help. Sorry for continually bugging you about my problem.

Also, just so you're not wondering, I do have WinFast PVR selecting in the titantv configuration. :)

Since you are doing a full re install deleting the whole key should not be a problem. As long as you don't have any other leadtek software ;)

You can always export it first as a backup, just in case.

I don't think it is the drivers. Did you delete the program files\winfast directory as well? What version of the pvr software do you have? Mine is 2.816

How are your checking the version? In the C:\Program Files\WinFast\WFTVFM directory, the WFTV.exe program is version 3.0.7.1 and the WFSCHDL.exe program is version 1.0.0.9 (when I right click and look at the version tab).

run the pvr software and click on the title "Winfast PVR" around the window. My wftv.exe is version 3.0.7.1 and wfshdl.exe is 1.0.0.9 so it looks like we have the same version. what version is your wfiepg.exe? Mine is 1.0.1.5

I've got 2.816. I don't know if the 5.13.01.2002-1.26 3071 is different. That seems to correspond to the driver version. My wfiepg.exe is also 1.0.1.5. I did not delete my winfast directory from programs files.

ZakPC,

check your add/remove programs for hotfix 329170. If you've been good about updating windows, then you should have it. Uninstall it, and your shutdown time will go from about a minute down to about 15 seconds.

Google 329170 and shutdown for more info.

It looks like you have the save versions of things I do. I don't know what to say. About the only thing left is to try deleting the directory when uninstalled, remove the reg keys and reinstall. Another thing to check is the file associations.

I just tried everything you mentioned except the file associations(not sure what you mean here). Seems as if it just doesn't want to work for me. The only thing I've done is keep this thread on the first page. ;)

Does anyone know if this card is supported by Windows XP Media Center Edition, and the Philips MCE remote?

Media Center Edition only supports cards that can decode Mpeg2 fully in hardware. There are very few cards which can do this (I know of only two, both by Hauppage: the PVR-250 and PVR-350).

Is this tv tuner card a better option than getting an All In Wonder card? I'm going to build a computer as an all purpose media box & this card appears to have the features I need to do that, but I don't know if this is a better alternative than getting 1 of the many All In Wonder cards. Especially under Windows XP/2000.

Do I need to leave PVR running to record the tv programs that I schedule? I scheduled it to record SNL last night, shut the program down and went to bed. No SNL when I woke up.

You need to leave the WinFast wizard (down in the system tray) running. If you shut that down, it won't know when to record. Be sure to click "silent recording" as well so that while the it is recording the show, the sound won't actually be on.

Does anybody else have a problem in that recorded TV using the PVR is not nearly as bright as live TV? Is there a workaround? I'm using Optimal Quality setting for the recordings. Baby Rigzilla in my sig is the machine.

u'd be able to get the analog channels through this, but not the digital ones. you'd need a special tuner for that which costs $150-250.
also, are u sure u're getting digital cable? i have at&t cable (recently "merged" w/ comcast) and they provide both digital cable and regular (analog) cable. i'm subscribed to the analog cable. also, digital cable contains analog signals, so this card will work no matter what, but u wont be able to get the digital channels (ie channels 129+)

I have the same problem, just the software I guess. Don't know of any workarounds other than just upping the brightness settigns before recording. Maybe it will be fixed in an updated software/driver release.

Hey guys and gals...I've just encountered some problems with my Leadtek PVR application and could really use some help.

Everything has been working more or less fine since I bought it last August.

Last night I connected my computer to a tv to watch a movie through my GeForce4 video card. Since my computer was out, I decided to clean my computer from dust build up this morning. Well after cleaning and connecting everything back up normally to my monitor I tried to launch my WinfastTV PVR app to watch some TV and I got the following error:

"Capture stopped! Device may be lost"

When I try to play the FM tuner I get this message:

"FM Radio device not found!"
<EX: 80010002>
"Cannot open recording device"

I've tried everything, reinstalling the old drivers/old apps, new drivers/new apps, ....deleting registry keys...everything! Nothing has solved the problem.

However, I know its not a hardware problem or a driver problem because, oddly enough, DScaler works fine, suggesting that the hardware and drivers are fine and the software is buggy?

I downloaded the latest software off leadtek's ftp site:
ALL_TVAP_30130.zip (softare with EPG)
and
ALL_TVDRV_30130.zip (drivers)

These are the latest driver/software releases (i was using them fine before today!).

Has anyone encountered anything like this...Any ideas on whats wrong?

Holy smokes, ChoppedBroccoli, makes a guy think he should Ghost his OS partition frequently or at least back up the registry. I'm not being cute or facetious here - I don't have a recent backup of either. Think I will do it now. Good luck! I don't have any ideas off the top of my head.

Edit: Did you try uninstalling the drivers before reinstalling? If you find an answer, please post back. You can issue Leadtek a request for support for the problem here.

Yeah, I tried to uninstall (drivers and software) and clean install...no luck. I emailed the support@leadtek.com address and got some automated response garbarge. I did also try the link you provided...I'll see if I get better help there.

The unit comes with a warranty as explained on the last page of the manual included in the box...although leadtek's customer service has been less than helpful so far. Maybe newegg will be a better route (I bough it a while ago, but I've heard some pretty amazing exceptional return policies).

DScaler doesn't seem to work so well either. When I open the DScaler.exe program, Dscaler starts up fine, but then somehow Leadtek's PVR software also comes up too and gives the same error msg, forcing me to shutdown DScaler. However, If I open DScaler again right after this, DScaler will open fine without errors and play cable TV. I have no idea whether its Leadtek's software problem or an actual hardware problem???

Have you tried removing the card, deleting the software and the like, reboot after a power-off. Do whatever to remove remnants; reboot again after power-off; then reinstall the card and software?

The general rule that worked for me on "some" issues like this was simply removing the card and letting Windows remove all the related cr*p.....

I would have PM you but you do not have it enabled.....

Well I did switch PCI slots with my NIC card and rebooted, but not in the order that you said....I'll try that too.

I might try to fresh install the card on my roomates computer and see what flys...that should give a pretty good idea if anything is wrong.

I turned on my PM ability, so it should work.

Ok I tried this in the order you mentioned. Still no luck...same exact errors.
