Would it be possible to hook a VCR up using the coax connector? My VCR does not have S-Video out, only composite out and a coax out. I want to record from the VCR to the PC.

Xanager,
I had some problems with the titantv at first. I would get this message in IE saying the specified path could not be found. Turns out the file extension for the EPG, .tvpi, was not pointing to the WinFast Scheduler EPG program. So I went into Tools>Folder Options>View File Types in XP explorer and corrected that. Maybe something like that will help you out.

Okay, I have the file type associations correct, yet the error message still comes up. So I decide to reinstall the drivers. The drivers presently on the system are dated 6/12/2002. I follow the instructions exactly off Leadtek's site, but XP tells me it can't find any drivers better (newer) than the ones I already have. This is after I have uninstalled the new ones. So I decide to tell it which driver to load. When I do this, I get the exact same driver date of 6/12/2002.

Leadtek says to install the drivers before the AP, which I didn't do last time. This may be my problem. However, now I can't get the new drivers to load.

thanks

It should be fine since the Leadtek is based on the CX/BT 878 chip. PowerVCR II and the rest of the Cyberlink suite is included with the Asus TV 880 if the Cyberlink suite is something you are interested in.

For those wondering about the dates on drivers/software update downloads from leadteks site....

The drivers seem to be the same drivers that came out last summer. The software is what is being updated as of 1/9/2003.

Sorry for sending this deal back to the top, but I have a question.

I'm having horrible sound recording from this card for some reason. I have done what Peyton said in a previous post of making sure record is on Line In under windows/sound.

I'm just using my onboard Line In on my Epox 8K3A+, could this be the cause of the shady recording of audio? Any suggestions that might be another cause of it?

I will put in a SBLive and see what happens, but still wanting that audigy2 or TBSC right about now :p.

TIA!

I wonder if you can record line in successfully using a different program. Here's a freeware program you can use to record MP3s of your computer sound. I used it some and it works. It's probably improved. The site is down at the moment for some reason.

It "sounds" like it might be overamped (too much signal coming in). I used to have an Ensoniq card that did the same thing. Either slide down your mixer setting for input or you may have to install one of these little remote microphone volume pots that are used for portable players. That's what I had to do to my Ensoniq.

I got one of these cards and just installed it. I am having a problem where the audio will simply cut out after about 3 minutes. It happens on both the Input from my Tivo and when using the FM Radio station tuner.

I had purchased an AverTV card from Fry's and it did the *exact* same thing. I took it back thinking it was a lame card, now this Leadtek one does the same thing. I guess the hardware is essentially the same so I am confused now.

Any advice?

Thanks! :)

Try taking out the FM Tuner aetenna while recording.

That was my problem with shady audio and cut in's/out, might be drawing too much power from the card.

Hey Xanager,

Did you get TitanTV working? I'm having the same problem as you are having and was wondering if you made any progress.

Actually I rebooted and everything seems fine now. But thanks for the tip! :)

(My friend thinks that he fixed it, but heh heh...yeah right).

Actually, I finally gave up on it. I reinstalled the drivers and the software, but still get the same error message.
After I tell titantv to record or watch the show, Winfast says, "Sorry, the data is invalid"

Got one of these and am very impressed with its recording function. I used the S-video input, captured an episode of twin peaks from my Dish PVR, using the winfast software, then created a DVD with Video Studio. I could detect only a slight loss in quality on a 36" TV. Video Studio is also decent for bundled software. For me the leadtek card worked much better than my AIW card.

Anybody know if I splice the coax going into my broadband modem to plug into this card if it will slow down my cable connection?

Thanks in advance,
Erik

Erik, I did the same thing with no degrading of my internet connection, just dont use the cheap connectors from kmarts:D. I think Radio shack has some heavy duty shielded type connectors and splitters. If you use the cheap kind it can degrade your connection.

After reading a few TV Tuner threads in GH & Video, I'm ready to buy this but first have a few questions:

I have a P4 2.4, 512MB DDR PC2100 RAM, 40GB HD, with NO CABLE or SATELLITE coax near the PC.

1) Should I buy this or the Asus TV 880 and why?
2) My rig is located in the basement, since there isn't a cable/satellite coax cable near me I am only interested in picking up broadcast free channels ... should I expect a decent signal or give up?

Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can offer!

WTF is a grand nagas? never saw that before...

Get this card dude... either this one or the WinTV model 401 are the best in class dude... you won't regret it dude... one word of warning though dude... if you expect to use this with antenna, you might need a hella good antenna to get a good picture... this mutha is using the latest and greatest BT878 Fusion btw... the remote on this here card is also more fully featured than the WinTV 401 remote... I hear the software for the Leadtek is better as well...

The Asus has the higher quality 10-bit Conexant CX23880 chip. You'll get higher quality vid with it than the older BT878 chip. If you have your heart set on a Leadtek card, the higher end WinFast TV2000 XP Expert uses this newer CX2388x series of chips as well. Unfortunately, the rest of Leadtek's line uses the inferior 878.

I am not sure the word inferior does justice to the leadtek tv card. Yes it uses a less advanced chip than the Asus TV tuner, but it still handles what it does very well. We are talking about analog signal here, and for Rossman, he is going to use the card with an antenna. The limiting factor for him will be the antenna signal, so it is much more suitable for him to get the leadtek card for a better cost/performance ratio. Nothing beats 57 bucks for a stereo sound tv card with remote and fm tuner.
Here's a snapshot of the winfast tv2000xp I just made. I am using a four way splitters.
