Greetings,
This is Ute, MagnusTheBrewer's wife. Just wanted you to know Magnus passed peacefully at home on Saturday, 10/10/2020
at 12:28pm. He was finally given the "good" drugs and was no longer in pain. Happily he didn't have to go into hospital/hospice care. Hug your loved ones. F#@k cancer!
Thank you, Ute, for letting us know. Magnus was one of the good guys, one of us, a member of our fairly close-knit family of long-time posters, and he will be missed.

His last post here was done with class and humor in the face of the very worst news a person could receive. I would have expected nothing less from him.

I'm beyond happy he got to pass at home, pain free and in your loving company. And, yeah, Ute, F#@k cancer!

Terribly sorry for your loss Ute. I'm glad that Magnus was able to pass peacefully with loved ones at his side.

While I hoped for a much better or delayed conclusion to his journey, I'm glad he was without pain.

Cherish his memory. We always seem to lose the good ones.

Thank you so much for the update. He was a good guy, we'll miss him! Hope you are doing well.

RIP Magnus. Old school guy. His last words on this thread are resonating with me...the thought of setting up a comfy retirement only to be unable to enjoy it at all. Its just not fair. But that post really stung me, just reading it. Those are the last thoughts, advice that he wanted to express to this group of virtual friends. Causing me some very deep thoughts.

Ute,

Thanks for the update and I wish I saw this earlier. I recall his last post here and assumed the worst would be soon (I've ever tired of dealing with cancer--truly, f%ck it to all hell--I tend to avoid cancer threads around here because it's just too...familiar. But I have been lurking through this one for the most part).

I hope he was at peace at the time and without what must have been the pain over the last several months and, if I recall correctly, years.

Magnus was one of the better posters around here, as others have mentioned: truly old school, generous, but also pleasantly crabby when he needed to be and the situation called for it. I always enjoyed his posts here and his advice/opinions and I think that even those members that tended to disagree with him would certainly read his comments and give them the time they deserved--much more than can be said about most around here! 😉

Take care and best to you and the rest of your family.

Here's to Magnus! Raise a pint in that good man's name.

He was one of us, we happy few, we band of brothers, and against the indignities and indifference of age and every other circumstance, say it with me, my brothers, bonded together in the Cult of the Celly 300:

WE RULE!

No good man whose name is still spoken by his brothers is ever truly gone.
