I came through the surgery just fine, no complications. I'm hurting but, I know this pain will fade and I'm in the way to being pain free and mobile again. Now, I just have to figure out the financial part. Got to get healthy first. One day at a time. Thanks for all the good thoughts. I'll keep you posted.

No complications. That's good news.
Here's wishing you a speedy recovery Magnus.
Thanks for your updates.

Good news! I've healed up enough and am progressing enough that the insurance folks have ok'd rehab so they transferred me to that unit in the hospital and I can start learning how to be mobile again. The insurance only gives you a week rehab at a time so, I'm motivated to show them I'm "worthy" of a prosthetic. 😀

Ask them what aesthetic options they have!

I've got a prosthetic leg. It belonged to my ex's BF's brother. Still thought it was kind of weird that they never contacted me to get it back.

Excellent. I "assume" the skin needs to "heal" with that like a callous....
I think the callous would happen as I wear the prosthetic. I had an interesting "casting" appointment. I'm not sure what I was expecting. They took some measurements and put this really thick wetsuit leg condom on me with a metal socket in the bottom and then cut it to match where my leg joins the pelvis. Took about half an hour and ordered the leg.

"Leg condom"....Dude, barnyard much?

Kidding.

So this sleeve "grips" your upper leg and the prosthetic hooks to that? I can see 10 or 12" of "grip" around your thigh holding the leg.

But I didn't hang out at the Holiday Inn last night.

Thanks, I want to get one of the bouncy scoop foot kind so, I can dance around the kitchen.

My buddy lost his leg in a motorcycle accident from the knee down. Since then he's had 3 kids, goes hiking/biking and the last time I went camping with him he was dancing drunkenly around a camp fire and didn't fall in even once.

Hope the best for you and a speedy recovery and rehab.

UPDATE: 6/6/19
I finally got my new leg after waiting 3 weeks for a plastic socket to be remade. Rehab to learn to walk again (The fourth time) begins Monday.
