That's terrible news. There is nothing they can do to save the leg?

I know I won't be complaining about my RLS anymore.

Hope things get better for you.

I hope you are able to UPDATE 3/21/2020, 3/21/2021, 3/21/2022, ... continued for many iterations until you are old and ready to go on your own terms.

UPDATE: 3/21/19 Well, it seems I've got another curve ball to deal with. Last weekend my leg ulcer took a turn for the worst. I went to my plastic surgeon appt. He sent me to the hospital to be admitted. I have a staph infection in my left ankle bone. After talking with the vascular surgeons, it's been decided to amputate. Due to other complications it's going to be above the knee. Monday is the big day. I've got some serious rehab ahead.

Good on you for focusing on the future. Best of luck Magnus

I gotta say, like the post above I admire your upbeat attitude about this adventure in malady.

Apparently you win some and you lose some.. it seems that, unfortunately, an accountant somewhere took that literally.

But you know, they often say medical bills can cost a limb or two! I think the literal interpretation on the face of things sucks, but the upshot is losing half a limb may be a trade most would take if it changed the course of battle with that bastard cancer. Catching up on the thread it sounds like you have that bully cornered, and this new setback is but a flesh wound brought on by your relentless efforts to keep standing.

Mag, good luck to you and your loved ones. I can't even begin to imagine what you are gong through but stay strong and I hope after the next few months things get better for you. Where are you based?

Well, today's the day. I start the drastic weight loss program at 11am and they remove the left leg above the knee. Hey, I'll be a legit pirate. Argh matey, hold me beer!
