LCD response time

This page has a pattern on its right. When viewed in my LG L1753TR LCD monitor, scrolling the screen causes it to start blinking and to get a yellow tint. This is even more noticeable if the browser window is un-maximized and slowly dragged.

Clearly this phenomenon happens elsewhere as well. It doesn't happen on my CRT monitors, but it did happen on my previous LCD monitor (which is what prompted me to buy this one, marketed as having 2ms response time). It is specifically the blinking and distortion that bother me - usually people talk about ghosting and blur in the context of response times, but I think I can live with a little blur.

My question is - what should I look for in a monitor if I want this to be significantly reduced? Are there any specific recommendations (preferably a 17" fullscreen, and my budget is flexible if a product is worth its price tag)? If this bothers me, should I go back to a good old CRT monitor?

Thanks.

Have you looked at the LCD Thread sticky at the top of this site? Lots of information and there are specific monitor recommendations made as the best in each category of photo editing, gaming, office work, etc. And if you still have questions, ask one but do it in there.

Yes, I have looked at that thread, as well as any other website I could find with information about LCD monitors. I have asked a very particular question which is not clearly answered in any of those. As I have already started a thread for this, I fail to see the point of double-posting in the LCD thread.

It's a response time issue where the overdrive is too high and it causes discoloration. It also flickers on my L227WT (normal) but does not get discoloration.

You won't find an LCD that doesn't have the flickering issue because it's essentially inherent to the technology, but if you don't want discoloration look for low "overshoot" (as Tom's Hardware calls it), or low "RTC error" (X-Bit Labs).
