Been calibrated mulitple times according to multiple guides. LCD still looks better than my CRT and my old roomates AG crt.

CRT by far.

Unless you truely need the physical space or less(?) power consumption, then jump on the CRT. IMHO, 600$ is a bit much for a CRT monitor... why not go with a 21 inch top-end Viewsonic?
 
Well, it's looking like the CRT is the better choice...weird how the LCD is winning in the poll, but most of the replies have been CRT...

So you can't play games at a lower resolution than 1600x1200? I was looking into getting this LCD but if that's true, I'm having second thoughts.
 
I have a 2001FP and I love it. I'll never go back to a conventional CRT (though I am waiting to see what slim CRTs are like). I've found the ghosting to be very minimal compared to most LCDs. Also, the LCD will scale to non-native resolutions quite well for an LCD. It's always sharper than my Viewsonic P95f+ was. If you don't game that often, but regardless spend a decent amount of time in front of your computer, your eyes will thank you for buying the LCD as it's sharper and easier to read. Plus LCDs are just freakin' sweet, mang.

It most certainly be run at lower resolutions. The clarity at those resolutions is going to be comparable to most any CRT I've seen.

The CRT group is insecure and feels the need to rationalize their outdated technology. 😉
 
I'd go for the CRT for sure. I actually need a larger monitor (on a 17" CRT right now), but I also live on the fourth floor of my dorm...so I've not yet made up my mind if I'm actually going to get a new monitor or not. 😛
 
toekramp has the 22" NEC you are looking at. I have dual Samsung LCDs and to be honest, his picture quality owns mine. CRTs > LCDs in terms of quality.

LCD's are easier on the eyes😉
 
i love my 2001FP, it's got so many inputs and it saves me from having to buy a TV. i use the dvi for my PC, vga for my dreamcast, s-video for my playstation, and composite for my cable!
 
CRT. With a CRT that size, both of your cats will have plenty of lounge space on top. LCD? No way.
 
The Dell scales extremely well to lower resolutions so that should not be a problem AT ALL. I also notice zero ghosting. I personally LOVE mine. I have seen it for ~$550 as well so you might consider that.

Yeah, I could of gotten it for ~$550 the other day, but the $35 off coupon expired.
