I've got a dell 2000 FP 20" lcd I bought a couple few years ago

I dont know what all this burn in issue you are talking about, that is supposed to be impossible on lcd's. also I have no dead or stuck pixels and I dont know wtf the 'screen door' effect is. Zero ghosting in all the games I play too

get the lcd dude

a lot depends on your environment.

If you work in a bright well lit area, or a place with windows, go with the LCD. The best anti-glare CRT screen is still super reflective compared to an LCD.

I run dual monitor, CRT/LCD. On a bright sunday morning (8 windows in my family room) I can barely see the CRT but the LCD is still bright and strong.

If you work in a dark cave, the CRT may be a better choice, although I find even at night my LCD is MUCH easier on the eyes.

Here's a wrench in the works: NEC is discontinuing all CRTs . You can always buy a LCD later, you can only buy a new Nec CRT NOW....

That doesn't worry me, the monitor has a full 3 year warranty and NEC isn't going anywhere.

Is there any advantage to the Mitsubishi equivalent 2070SB? It's usually a good $50 more than the 2141, but @ Dell it's only like $10 more...is there any difference?

So when will I be able to game @ 2048 x 1536?!?!?!?

:p

Can you buy me one of those monitors too? :)

Oh, and even though I have a 6800GT, I still think I'd be kinda reluctant to try to game at 2048x1536. :p

LOL! Sure.

I was only able to pick one up myself because I got $350 for an early christmas present...

I wish I could say the same...I had actually ordered a 2001FP last month, but upon testing one out in person, I decided it definitely wasn't worth spending $650 on a monitor I could just "live with", so I cancelled my order. So now I'm looking for a big CRT, much as you are. The only problem is, as I mentioned before, I live on the fourth floor of my building. And I do LAN parties somewhat regularly. Oh...not to mention that I recently had to throw several hundred dollars at my car for repairs....there goes my monitor budget. :p

It'll probably have to be from the FS/T forums here - but then there's still the weight issue. :(

Yeah...which is one reason why I jumped on the free shipping deal. Even the cheapest shipping on a ~70lb monitor is $$$$.

I still would have been on the fence but recently I played some UT 2K4 on my friends 2001FP, looked a fair better than my 21" CRT... Res scaling is annoying but I don't think it is that bad...

calibrate your CRT correctly

his crt is probably just old. they fade over time..which is why so many people are so enamored with their new lcds... tend to compare to their old ass faded crt:p

Too bad. The LCD would've been easier to throw halfway across the room when the B's choke again. ;):p
