Lawmaker urges ban on 'spinner' hubcaps

I'm still trying to pin down the exact date it became not only acceptable, but valiant and noble to trumpet your own stupidity.

The first time it really caught my attention was during the Palm Beach 2000 election fiasco and hordes of idiots who had no trouble getting on TV and talking about how they were too stupid to use a simple ballot.

Not sure about your area, but all over the midwest when you enter a town they have signs that say "Engine Braking Ordinance In Effect" or "Engine Braking Prohibited".

Those signs are for semi's and Jake Brakes or Jacob Engine Brakes. They make a lot of noise that can sound a lot like machine gun fire, not that I think a lot of people actually mistake jake brakes for machine gun fire, but it does make a very loud staccato noise that smaller towns don't want within their city limits.

I don't think this lawmaker has depth perception. If the car is getting bigger and bigger in your line of sight, time to SLOW DOWN. How fast was he going anyway, with a trailer? Sheesh.

how would it be bigger and bigger ? How would his rims come into play if he was in front of him ? Obviously they were perpendicular to each other... that's when you look at wheels to determine if they are about to move on you or not. Absolute easiest way.

I say it's a PITA, but not enough to warrant banning.

Sounds to me like it would just give cops another reason to pull somebody over and harass them.

They look stupid - but so do many trendy things.

Which is really stupid, because they'd rather sacrifice the ability of an 80,000 pound vehicle to stop, for a little bit of noise reduction.

Either the mid 1450s in Germany or in 1895 somewhere outside of Bologna, Italy.

Actually, I can relate to his dilemma.
The other day, I saw a jogger on the corner at an intersection and he was running in place. I immediately slammed on my brakes in fear of not knowing if he was stationary or still running.

..goofy alright..I'd go along with a ban on "competition audio". Nobody needs audio loud enough to escape the interior of the vehicle.

you don't look at the wheels to determine if a car is moving. You look at the CAR. The wheels provide a clue, but heaven help you if that's what you rely on. What if they have a set of wheels that's blacked out and hard to tell? What if it's night?

I think it's funny because the lawmaker does something stupid, thinks "Well, obviously I'M not a bad driver, so it must be the other guy", and tries to pass a moronic law.

so u can see the hub caps from the rear of the car? this guy should have a meeting with concrete from a great height


and yes i always look at the wheels of a car to determind whether its moving or not :confused: i just completely forget that the rest of the car is there
