Point was that for "stopping crime on the streets" you don't need high capacity weapons. The story linked, the guy didn't even fire his gun, did he?

My first question would be "then why do cops have them?".

I live in a rural area. We have had (thankfully rare) instances where multiple criminals have approached a house and killed the whole family inside etc. I don't want to get into a shootout with some criminals and have only 6 shots. Since they usually fail to call ahead I'd prefer to quickly pick up just one gun already loaded with sufficient ammo.

Farmers often need high cap mags when killing the varmits (usually feral hogs) that destroy their crops.

Rural versus urban often have different needs/uses.

From the sounds of what I saw he basically just kirked out in the middle of class. The knife spree hasn't gotten continuous national attention go figure.
