Ha , India victim of it's own success. Utilities cannot supply infrastructure demand, not enough power even for the buildings.

8-18-2004 India's crumbling 'Silicon Valley' losing its lustre

BANGALORE, India (AFP) - The success of India's hi-tech and outsourcing industry was built on Bangalore, but the southern city where the boom began has now become a victim of its own success.

The rapid growth is putting major pressure on the city's already congested roads and software firms complain that acute power cuts are taking a toll on business.

8-10-2004 Verizon Planning Call Center in S.C.

Verizon Wireless is planning to open a new call center that will employee 850 people in North Charleston, according to a published report.

Verizon closed an 850-person call center in Morristown, N.J., earlier this year and eliminated hundreds of other positions at another facility in Orangeburg, N.Y.

At the time, the company said the jobs would be transferred to two new call centers by next year.

This is great. People spending a decade in Schooling and a hundred thousand dollars or so and now lose their jobs to cheap Doctors overseas, beautiful, I love it. :)

Next they may ship the patients overseas for Surgeries as well. It is cheaper to fly a patient there, get operated on, recover a bit and fly them back. Also get cheaper drugs to boot.

Good that's what all the greedy bastages in the U.S. get. Can't wait till this catches up to the doctors and Surgeons that reside here.

This was alo featured on NBC Nightly News tonight.

The fact of the matter is, more Drs have left because insane insurance costs, than this outsourcing. This outsourcing is a very tiny %, its akin to the small % of legal work outsourced.

And its stupid how you call Drs greedy. Most Hospital post loss after loss. Drs take home 25% of their gross income. Etc etc etc. High medical costs are due to

1. no pays
2. malpractice lawsuits

You have to cover the cost somehow, and that means $6000 a day hospital rooms. $1000 CT scans. And even then most hospitals are bleeding red.

Exactly, this is why they are building massive Surgery complexes with Giant Hotel like facilty to shuttle patients from the U.S. in and out like Cattle in India. 1 Massive facilty there will replace nearly 500 U.S. Hospitals. Ironic since they don't do anything with the non-human Cattle over there.

Blame the morons suing doctors for $15 million because they chipped a nail when the doctor had to perform emergency CPR.

The American Dream:
1)Injure self doing something INCREDIBLY stupid, but not quite stupid enough to kill you outright

Is anybody familiar with Healthcare in Canada? Even though healthcare is free to every Canadien, the level of care is much lower than the US.

The point is... you get what you pay for.

Proof?

50+ million uninsured get what they can pay for here. NOTHING. Something is better than nothing.

Malpractice insurnace is insignifigant to the cost of heath care at 3-7%.

I guess the question is would you rather get substandard healthcare for free or have to pay a premium for quality care?...

Agreed. I work in the healthcare industry and we have loss after loss each month with maybe just a few months coming out in the black. I believe we had nearly 80% non insured people last month come in. Don't EVER say that uninsured people don't get medical attention to me.

I don't agree with the premise till I see proof we have better health care or proof Canada's is substandard.

And nothings free the only question would be eliminating the thousands of middle men sucking off the cost of heath care in this country offer cheaper care. I bet it would. Every social medicine county, this includes all the industrialized nations but USA, spend less per capita than we do while insuring everyone. The US military socialized medine spends less per capita also. Finally in Canada or any other socialized medicine state you can buy supplemental insurance to go to "elite" clinics like MAYO..just like here. I'm not surpirsed you hav'nt heard of this because it's not too popular obviously the people are happy with the system since they choose not to buy it.

Do uninsured get physicals? Do uninsured get root canals? Do uninsured get a family doctor?

NOPE. It's only when crises hits do we decide to take care of them, at more cost than preventative measures would have been.

Well I take that back, prisoners, refugees, and non-productive welfare moms get all those things, while someone barly scarping by actually working in the lower status does'nt. Seems fair.

Wrong again, no one "mocked" anyone's dedication to Education, only the dedication to Greed, big difference.

Healthcare is expensive in the US for a variety of reasons. Accordingly, we need fundamental reform in the delivery and financing of our patchwork system.

Clearly, some of you that allegedly work in healthcare still don't understand healthcare. Indigent care is compulsory . . . if and only if . . . it's an emergency. All other care is provided at the discretion of the facility.

The profit motive has hurt healthcare in general while enriching certain organizations (including Frist-controlled HCA/Columbia). Some physicians are paid too much (interventional radiology) some physicians are paid too little.

When it comes to advances in pharmaceuticals, profit motive has provided incremental benefits but very few truly dramatic interventions. "Blockbuster" refers to annual sales NOT effectiveness.

It's only going to get worse when the coming storm of extremely old (and abundant) members of the Greatest Generation *sic*, Baby Boomers collecting Medicare, and Gen X and Y getting a myriad of health problems related to sedentary lifestyles, poor diet, and smoking. You could kill all trial lawyers and it would scarcely affect that tsunami.

But for the aspiring-MDs out there don't worry . . . we cannot outsource LASIK, yet.

that's putting it mildly... i know several people that have returned from India only to be hospitalized, lol :) My sister was just hospitalized some months ago after returning from India with dengue fever (I think). I don't think I've ever even known anyone that's gone that hasn't gotten sick there either. I've gotten sick everytime myself.

I really don't think outsourcing medical care to India is going to be much of a solution.

It's the only choice we are now just starting to get. The Country is not doing anything to help the situation.

At least some good can come out of India and Walmart like practices.

I've known several people here in the states that have gone to Canada (I think it was Coal Bay or something like that) and got LASIK at a premium facililty for less than half the cost of getting it done in a shop in Anytown, USA. Gotta love the socialized medicine ;)
