Here's my problem. Seems like around prime time(7-11pm) my ping goes to shit. I play two games, bf3 and quake 2. I have DSL via windstream(all I can get around here). Yesterday I played quake 2 literally all day with a 50 ping(chicago server). Around 730pm it went to 130 and did not come below 100 the rest of the evening. It does this all the time. I'm not sure what causes it but it's getting annoying.
Currently I'm on a 1.5MB plan which I only download at around 150kb. They are upping it to the 3.0(biggest I can get I believe) tomorrow. He said I should see a difference but I shouldn't. Not sure what he meant by that, perhaps the latency issues will be fixed.
From what I understand DSL is a dedicated download/upload correct? I'm not sure what to do or check or even call and tell the DSL company my problem. I just know I'm sick of my ping jumping up over 100 and staying arounod 130+ every evening while I play quake 2.
FWIW:
OS: win 7 ultimate, 64 bit
DSL modem->router->wired to my pc. I've tried bypassing the router and got the same results.
