Post shows lack of effort. I gave it the 1 only because the OP managed to count to seven.

The legacy of millennials will be a generation that can't wipe their own asses because their parents wouldn't let them experience anything or grow up to be able to solve their own problems.

When the foundations are destroyed from under their feet (and barely held together with duct tape and string) by previous generations (either actively or out of rank ignorance).

well, calling them out is rather assholish.

Wrong thread? If so, I don't even want to know what the intended thread is about. It's the sort of statement we all fear will inadvertently come out of our speakerphones during a job interview.

More college degrees than Gen Y because Gen Y dropped out in droves or is taking 8 years to get a degree. More Gen Y went to college yet have less degrees than Gen X. It may also be that Gen X went ahead and got their English and art studies degrees anyway and finished out the degree where as Gen Y will go years into an English degree and switch to something else, only for the market for that to blow up and switch a 3rd time. Then the market blows up again and they get a masters.

I personally think Gen X are the most materialistic generation and the most over-extended as we head into a pretty uncertain future.

OP posted the things that make old white men scared and fearful of how things change. So, I posted one more thing he/she forgot to add.

We tried to continue the legacy of the baby boomers, but Regan screwed us up the ass on education. Then George sr and Bill Clinton screwed us again with free trade.

After several screwings and nothing to show for it, we said screw it, lets stay home and get on welfare.

Generation Y will probably further the internet and technology, but how many of them are willing to get heir hands dirty?

Everything the baby boomers and generation X built is not going to last forever. We have power grids that need to be maintained, bridges that need to be repaired,,,, stuff that requires physical labor. Who is going to do that?

Maybe we can take feminist who got degrees in womens studies and retrain them to operate heavy equipment?

There is a section of I-95 where you can see through the deck of the bridge, and a gaping rusty hole in the I-beam, to the water below.

;)

Its about 20 years pasts its design life. Infrastructure is rated at a D+ overall.

http://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/

http://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/a/#p/aviation/overview

http://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/a/#p/bridges/overview

It is seriously some good information.

The percentage of bridges that are either functionally obsolete or structurally deficient has been declining slowly over the last decade as states and cities have increased efforts to prioritize repairs and replacements. In 2012, one in nine, or just below 11%, of the nation’s bridges were classified as structurally deficient. The number of bridges defined as functionally obsolete has also declined, with currently 24.9% of the nation’s bridges defined in either deficiency category. However, while billions have been spent annually on bridge construction, rehabilitation, and repair in the last twenty years, current funding levels are not enough to repair or replace the nation’s large-scale, urban bridges, which carry a high percentage of the nation’s traffic. To illustrate, the nation’s 66,749 structurally deficient bridges make up one-third of the total bridge decking area in the country, showing that those bridges that remain classified as structurally deficient are significant in size and length, while the bridges that are being repaired are smaller in scale.

Etc.

Our nation’s inland waterways and rivers are the hidden backbone of our freight network – they carry the equivalent of about 51 million truck trips each year . In many cases, the inland waterways system has not been updated since the 1950s, and more than half of the locks are over 50 years old . Barges are stopped for hours each day with unscheduled delays, preventing goods from getting to market and driving up costs. There is an average of 52 service interruptions a day throughout the system. Projects to repair and replace aging locks and dredge channels take decades to approve and complete, exacerbating the problem further.

etc.

But I mean so long as he can go to work at his office job on new suburban streets and stuff just appears at the grocery store and gas magically appears at the pump from 10,000 miles away then yeah he is right.

1. Nope. Hate Facebook.
2. Nope. Hate Twitter.
3. Nope.
4. The climate is changing. Temperature has risen, is continuing to rise and its changes are clearly seen in nature. It's no delusion. One's denial is a delusion.
5. This is good.
6. I support.
7. Weed? Yes, please.

Generation Y and proud.

Yep, that latte is going to magically appear at the internet cafe.

Generation Y is going to be in a state of shock when roads, bridges, power grids, sewage lines, water lines,,,, start falling apart.

Right now the last of the baby boomers and generation X is keeping the nation moving.

In 20 - 30 years baby boomers are mostly dead, generation X is retiring, generation Y is going to be in a state of shock and denial they have to start getting their hands dirty.

Out of my high school graduating class, 1986, we have some doctors, some professors, some truck drivers, some welders, some lawyers - everything from professionals to people who get their hands dirty everyday. Because that is what it takes for the world to work.

The crap is not going to pump itself out of your house and the latte is not going to magically appear.

First generation not to hunt and peck at the keyboard

I have to disagree with this one. Typewriters and typing classes existed long, long before the computer, and the skill of touch typing transferred right over.

Of course, some people were too lazy to take typing class. In retrospect, the one semester of typing I took in jr high was the single most useful class I have ever taken.

A little bit hyperbole, but close.

Pretty much that^

Also in regards to infrastructure spending.

While a president can propose something it takes a Congress (with both parts of it more or less agreeing) willing to fund the proposals.

If it would make the current administration look good you can bet some republican is going to try and stop it.
