You guys asked for it so its here, you can now rate a user. Hope this helps those of you selling goods. Its in your profile that is where you would view it and vote.

To allow yourself to be rated you can turn it on in the profile area.

You get a 10 from me :)
But are there any safeguards with this, what's to stop someone from setting up many accounts and boosting their rating? Or to stop people from downrating someone because they are neffing...
Not that I?m bitching or anything....

[edit]Is this really the LAST feature? Can I forget about a last person to reply box then? :(
bummer
Also is there a way to know who rated you?
Can a rating be changed?[/edit]

ALl we can do is only allow you to vote on a person once, the only person that can clear their rating is the mods. That is all we can do.

Cool, at least I don't have to let people rate me...
And about the last user, it could go right beside the date and time of last post, you already have that info, shouldn't be to hard eh?

See now I want to know if you have responded or not, so I have to keep checking everytime someone posts.. If you had the name of the last poster then I would see that I was the last person, and there was probably not much to check into...

The problem with that is a) another query has to be run b) we lose another 50 pixels of space.. 800x600 now becomes messy

Can it be a profile option defaulted to off?
And I forgot about those 800x600'ers their life is tough enough...

Interesting feature zuni, I'm scared to think how I'll be rated but I gave you a ten :D

I think that an interesting idea was mentioned in the srfshalot thread, the ability to ignore a user. Might wanna look into that for a future upgrade some day. It could stop petty flamewars and block out annoying nefs like lozer.

Thanks Zuni, it's a cool new feature.

Now, I 'accidentally' gave you a 9. You'll get a 10 if you let me change my mind :)

Zuni - It would help if you had something like '10=excellent rating, 1=poor rating" etc. Some people might have different ideas about which (1 or 10) is the best rating.

Please :)

I'm really sorry you got stuck with a 1.
Another nice feature would be to let people change their rating. So people that gave Paulson a 1 could go back and give him the score he really deserves (are there negative ratings? (joking :)))

If users could change their ratings then wouldn't that just ruin the entire idea :) only mods can clear ratings.. And bothering them with it unless its outright abuse would not be nice :)

NO people's opinions change, and someone could do a bad thing and then try to make good on it... letting people only make one choise and then not letting them edit it seems to ruin the idea of a rating.

also the forums are DOG slow right now...

I like the idea of being able to change a vote later. Especially since people can be on these forums for a long time and can improve or degrade.

Also, is there a way to rate and view the rating of someone who does not have their profile visible?

Thanks. It does seem like it could be a real useful feature. It could be especially useful when enough people having ratings. Maybe have a customize feature that one could filter out all messages from people with a rating below a certain number? Although, that might remove the humor in reading Paulson's posts (j/k). Since it could be under cutomize it could be controllable though. An alternative could be have a little box while browsing the forums such as "filtering users with ratings below: 3".

Sorry, whenever you introduce a new feature people will think of ten more related features :)

Zuni, thanks for all your hard work.

I can say that I have known some people to be real pains in the rear, but they were some of the most ethical traders I've come across. On the same note, some were as bad a traders as they were individuals.
Being able to change a rating would allow you give some one a second chance. If a person were to change their ways (for better or worse), it would be handy for the reevaluation of the member. It could serve as a praise to those who improve, or warning to some one if they were to start slipping in their social skills and or scruples.

Added note- Paulson, I hope my rating of you improves your ranking. I have found an occasional post of yours to be helpful. I just can't figure out how you find time to post so many.
