I just looked at my RAM and I have 1 Elixir, 1 Spectec "superman logo", 1 Samsung TCB0 and a couple of chips that don't have any names, but they have a logo with a circle that has what appears to be a Rubics Cube off to the left of the circle, partially in the circle and partially out of the circle. Have any idea what these chips are? I looked up Hynix and their RAM markings don't look like this.

Also.. On the Samsung TCB3 DDR333's, I noticed that there are two different sizes of letters and numbers. I thought that I was crazy at first because I could hardly read the numbers on one stick of TCB3 RAM, but the other was easy to read. Does this mean anything? Is one a preferrable production run or something? Just checking because you never know.

Thanks again.

Sal

As far as that mystery chip, give me ALL of the numbers/letters on the chip and I will find out.

You might be able to get them to now that compusa online has them for 39.99 (hence they can just look it up) Although this way you can't hand pick which speed you want.

I just got back from CC, office depot, and BB and none of them had the Samsung TCB3's or Infineon 6ns. :(

Hi K1114

mine also had the same marking as described earlier
a logo with a circle that has what appears to be a Rubics Cube off to the left of the circle

can you find out the speed grade on this one? Thanks a lot.
here's the number on the chip:
1st line (next to the logo): 0227PR
2nd line: V58C2128804SAT7

Looks like you got the TCB3 chips with the BIG text. Some of my RAM has the bigger text like this (easier to read) and some has really small text. You don't think there is any difference between the two? The markings are the same, it's just that the one stick has smaller text and the other has larger? Newer production run?

Sal

PS.. I'll have to go grab a stick of the "mystery" ram and give you the markings off of it.

I found one but the only problem is though it's the same 256mb DDR2100 being sold as the $39 one's it had a different SKU and thus the price was different :(

As I posted earlier in this thread I ended up with one stick with Samsung TCB3. The CSRs at CompUSA in Miamisburg OH were outstanding!! Especially after being blown off by BB. I asked them since they didn't have anymore in stock if they would give me a rain check on theses ate that price and they did!! Bonus!

One thing I always do when I find CSRs that really care about their customers (and ultimately their jobs) I tell them how much I appreciate it. Hey it always seems to get me a lot more mileage.:D

Man am I frustrated. Went to BB and they had only one stick of the 256MB Infineon, and no Samsung, mostly Nanya. Then I went to 2 officedepots, and they had some mystery ram with 7.5 on the end of the chip number. Then another BB and Samsung TCB0 only, then CC and they were closed due to a power failure. So now I have one stick of 256MB Infineon pricematched at BB for $39.99. Does anyone want to sell me another stick of DDR333 samsung or Infineon? I need 512Mb total ram. Thanks.

email me at anandt@q1x.com

Successfully pricematched w/ CC at 39.99- 15% + tax = $36.62 - $30 (MIR's) + $.74 (stamps) = $7.36 --- Final price. :D

CSR did not bother to call CompUSA, just comfirmed w/ the Sales Manager about the pricematch. She ended up giving me extra 15% off instead of the 10% off for the pricematch guarantee. Printed me extra copy of the receipts for the 2 rebate coupons that printed out w/c she handed to me. I was in and out of the store in about 5 minutes.

They only had 4 in stock, 2 of them Infineon chips, 1 w/ TCB0 and the last one Samsung K4H560838D-TCB3 w/c I got. I'll have to go back before the week ends or go to another CC for another chip, hopefully w/ TCB3 markings. Memory had a little sticker showing 6432WNDXA8G09TWK-OF0 and 32WNDSTK4486111.

Thanks!!!!!! :D

Dang this might be better than b4, i cashed in on this ddr333 mix up 3 months ago and grabbed tcb3 for $25 AR. I checked my local staples and cc, oos. BB however had tons, but only nanya and infineon (7.5 probably) crud. I thought they had a rebate, but they didn't so i'm gonna return it since $39 for regular pc2100 is still too high for me :D

how are you people overcomming the "1 per household thing"?
It's easy if you have more than 1 address and name to have a rebate sent to. You also have to be sure to buy a stick with cash on a separate receipt and then buy one with credit card (or several with cash, separate receipts of course). No need to bring a friend along if you buy it with cash. Just let your friend know that you're going to borrow their name and address and to make sure they give you the rebate check when it arrives. ;)

PNY does this all the time. When i worked at CrapUSA they had a 128MB DIMM in a 32MB packaging. This was back when the 128s where $150 retail. and the 32MB were around $40 or so. I bought everyone of those things and turned around and sold them for $120 a piece. Oh, how i miss retail sometimes.

Bring a "friend/sibling" who lives in a separate household along w/ you to buy the DDR. You buy one and he/she buys one. Or have it rung up separately, one DDR at a time. Use his/her address to mail in the rebate forms w/ your name. In my case, I use my sisters address w/ my name on the rebate forms. Works all the time. Got the rebates in good time.

You'll have to look for a CC willing to pricematch w/ CompUSA to get the best deal. Lucky for me, I always had no problem pricematching at my local CC. Good luck on this deal and as always YMMV. Again, thanks for the post. ;)

Ok.. Now for the mystery chip markings..

"Company logo that looks like a Rubics Cube on the corner of a circle" then this text:

0231PR
V58C2128804SAT75

Then there is a line of very small text below those two lines. I'll try to make it out.. Don't have a magnifier glass handy.

Looks like:

PO33892IFARA

Weird, eh?

Let me know what you think these chips are?

can you find out the speed grade on this one? Thanks a lot.
V58C2128804SAT7

Looks like cpumaster got the same kind of RAM. I think you might be missing the last digit though. Are you sure that there isn't a 5 on the end? From my RAM, I can deduct that it has 7.5ns chips, which would indicate that it is not DDR333 unfortunately.

Mosel Vitalic V=Mosel Vitalic ..58=DDR I..C=CMOS .. 2=2.5v .. 12880 = 16M x 8 4k ..4=4 banks .. S= SSTL_2 ..A = Rev. 1 ..T= pkg type of TSOP .. 75 = 7.5 speed =133mhz (DDR266)

Hey all,

A Heads Up for those in Orange County, I just left the BB by South Coast Plaza, and I left 3 Infineon -6 Sticks and 1 Samsung TCB3 Stick. BTW, the CSR PM'd the $29.99 price that was in the larger font, not the actual $39.99 that the PC2100 was going for...SCORE!

which brings me to my question..i got both Infineon -6 and the Samsung TCB3...which is better?

Just to clarify, the Samsung DIMMs that hans007 picked up are also on Samsung CTL PCBs and not generic ones. This is awesome overclocking ram! I was with hans007 when we drove around last night in search of more PC2700 DIMMs, but like he said, pretty much every place around us was sold out. CompUSA's price is good all week, so if you weren't able to score any PC2700, find out when your local BB/CC/CompUSA gets shipments in or try again at the end of the week.

The sale is through Wednesday 12/18/02.

I've only been able to find the TCB0 and Infineon 7.5 and 7 in NH. Still looking.
