and these guys have had their specials out on comedy central already and some have had cds. Its not fair to the other guys and kinda defeats the purpose of the show to find new talent.

you forgot todd glass.

First time around I thought the other guy was way way funnier than the guy who actually won. No idea why it ended up the way it is.

pablo francisco is one of the funniest comedians i've ever heard. His Comedy central special ends with the movie preview guy voice doing a preview for some wacked out tortilla boy movie. That had me laughing so hard i couldn't breathe.

and I want to see Kevin James on there...

Anyone ever seen the comic who does REALLY GOOD GWB impressions, esp when bush says "done" after he's finished speaking? I can't remember who that is, but he's damned funny.

Frank Caliendo, he also does the best john madden ever.

they're both great comedians..

dane cook, kevin james, pablo francisco, brian regan, frank caliendo, eddie izzard.. some of my favorites

haha yeah i almost pissed myself laughing so hard at his impressions. He even does the facial impersonations to go along with the voice. My favorite comics are those that can do really good impressions.

I disagree, I think stand-up comedy is a difficult thing to do and I don't see any problem with letting more experienced people into the competition. I don't see how it's unfair since most of the "experienced" comics have probably toiled for years in obscurity, going on the road, working hard and perfecting their act. Those people have paid their dues and this show gives them a shot at the brass ring.
Sure, there are some people that have had minor success, but other than a few familiar faces, these people are still relatively unknown. Besides, I'd rather have "professionals" that are actually funny in the house instead of unfunny amateurs.

Plus, there is still room for the truly unknown folks - they let plenty of them through to the next round.

Frank Caliendo is one of the funniest guys around when it comes to impersonations. He kills at John Madden. He's from Milwaukee so we get him on the radio shows every so often. He was also on MadTV I think.

haha - he was such a tool and a mediocre comedian to boot...
ALL of the other comedians were funnier than him.
I'm definatly a rich vos fan. So Dat winning was a HUGE upset.

The man has a routine that he pretty much sticks to all the time. He has next to no flexability.
He is a theme comedian and a mediocre one at that.

Did you catch him on Tough Crowd at all?
He was on once and got eaten alive by the other guys.. truly a sight to see.

I hope this years LSS turns out better.

For the love of GOD I hope Norton wins!!!

I have no problems with people who have been doing it for a while, but I do have problems with people like Pablo Francisco and todd glass who have had their own comedy central specials and released cds.

You know what, if you didn't make it big after getting your own comedy central special, its not going to happen.

Good point, although since LCS is on network TV in prime time I am guessing WAY more people see it than any Comedy Central special, and it also shows the comics in different environments than just on stage. So I think it's still very valuable exposure if one of them wanted to do a sitcom or something - CDs, talk-show appearances, and even a special might not get you to that point, or at least not very quickly. This show is a like a massive steroid injection for the Q-ratings of these comics.

Great list!

Brian Regan is the funniest human being alive...

Take luck!

2 WHOLE FIG NEWTONS!

I've seen DC's show on Comedy Central before (I think I mentioned that in my last post, doh...), and it was really funny. I like the way he presents himself.

As for today's episode...most of the people that should've got in did, but that damn ogre-woman made it and she's so annoying that I went to watch The Temptations on VH1 for a minute! :Q

I was kinda pissed that the london guy (the last guy) made it, he is not funny and has been doing that same unfunny 'act' for atleast 3 years.

also the fat lady who did the stupid face and the thanksgiving parade float thing is not funny.

The people who didn't make it and should were the old guy who was going comedy at bars for 35 years, the indian guy who was talking about his dad being scared of the dark, and the young russian kid Valdimer something.

However, I understand them not wanting to bring the kid on the show, because if he drinks in the house NBC could get into a lot of trouble.

I was happy when Pablo Francisco didn;t get the spot because he was doing the same material he did on his comedy central special and all he does is rag on latinos. That guy seriously needs to get a new act and mix it up a little.

damnit i missed the show tonight. That's gay that pablo francisco didn't get in. Yeah he probably needs new material, but his existing material is pretty freakin funny

*spoiler link*
Does it matter what the judges or audience think?

Dat should not have won. He was funny the first time he did the routine and not the 8th.
They show appeared to be fixed according to the end credits.
The producers can pick whomever they want to win regardless of the (comedy club) audience votes or the judges' choices.
I hope they change it so it is truly fair.

Someone tell me what the hell happened to Pablo Francisco?
He didn't make it to Las Vegas. 🙁 I thought he should've made it to at least the semis but the judges and NBC producers thought otherwise.

And I thought Drew Carey made some big stink last year when the producers overrode the celeb panelists? What is he doing back if he had such a huge beef?

Jim Norton gets the boot!

Really? 🙁 Was this during the semi-finals or whatever.

vegas, contractual conflicts (tough crowd i guess? i dunno) had him doing something the same time he would have done something with LCS if he had advanced.

i have a feeling a winner was chosen before they even went to vegas; but i watch it as i frag and stuff so i hadnt paid enough attention to guess who it would be

The second comic, Marina Franklin (the black woman), should have made it. She had a strong and new set.

While Dan Naturman was funny he used the same set he did last time, so I don't feel bad that he got kicked off.

I don't believe that Jay London is funny, he had a few good lines, but he is no Steven Wright or Mitch Hedberg.

this show is such a joke

i remember one show where they were auditioning

where this huge man-like woman and had the worst act ever making stupid noises and humor that would appel to a 5 year old got picked

this was one of the the beginning episodes and there were like 20 people and 10 got picked or something
pablo francisco and jim norton were on there as well but i think only jim got picked

anyway i lost all respect for the judges after that because she and anyone who finds her funny should but SHOT several times

Last night really disgusted me. Tammy won over Todd!? WTF!? Like I said before, they're focusing on the whole catty reality sh!t over the talent.

I mean seriously, they cut Pablo Francisco, Dan Naturmann, that hilarious ex-cop (I might be biased on that one), and the husband from that married couple. That's a boatload of talent and instead we get people like Ant & Tammy. Ugh.
