I think with new architecture we can expect many driver bugs and performance gains over the next couple of months.

So I predict all the nv guys will get every possible driver bug and will have incredible eyes to catch these same bugs. The amd guys will quickly and easily find a solution to all, and have incredible eyes to notice how blurry the nv image is.

Yet I remember you being fairly excited over the GTX580. :/

The 580 solved a problem at the high-end for nV, and extended the single-gpu lead for them. I'm not sure what problem 5970 is solving for AMD.

Although if it brings down 570 prices, I can see everyone being happy.

Basically it is confirmed that we are stuck without any ground-breaking performance from either side until 28nm.

The 580 wasn't even supposed to exist. It was leaked and launched within two weeks. This 5970 "Northern Islands v Southern Islands" has been hyped for what seems like an eternity.

I think it warrants it's own series because the 6970 is faster than the 5870 compared to how much faster the GTX 580 is to GTX 480. Also lets not forget Antilles now...If the CF improvements move into Antilles we are going to have some crazy performance figures.

Theres some Heaven benchmark scores from a UK etailer and a review in Russian, so nothing you want to put too much faith in yet.

yes, very good job by amd marketing to keep their gpu offerings in the press. I'm very surprised, in the past nvidia marketing was the one going on the offensive. seems like amd has figured out that the only worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
