Ok a bit of a fun thread to pass the time till the reviews come out, lets not take it too seriously.

My predictions

580>6970>570>6950

Hopefully with the AMD cards edging closer to the cards above them than the ones below, and priced well.

I think availability should be good going by the Overclocker UK post.

I'm not convinced overclocking will be great as I assume AMD will have wrung as much performance out of them as they can.

I agree with your prediction, albeit I am disappointed AMD did not pull ahead of the 580 at average resolutions, which is just an overclocked GTX 480 with a few more shaders, with the 6970.

I have been looking at benches that show 6970 Crossfire being much, much faster than GTX 580 SLI for 3 monitor gaming, so I think there will be exceptions.

For the gamer who wants to use 3 monitors for resolutions such as 5760x1200, 6970 Crossfire, and 6950 Crossfire will be far superior to 580 and 570 SLI, not to mention you can run a 3 monitor setup on one AMD card, but you have to go SLI to run 3 monitors on Nvidia.

6990 will be a real beast with the improved Crossfire scaling in 6 series, but I'm not sure how fast 2x6990 will be as generally 4 GPUs do not scale that well. 6990x2 may be faster than nvidia's best in GTX 580 Tri-SLI because the 5XX series cannot run quad-sli, but it remains to be seen.

Since it's so close to release.

#1 580
#2 6970
#3 570
#4 6950

But,

#1 6970 CF
#2 580 SLI
#3 6950 CF
#4 570 SLI

I also think people will be able to cherry-pick benchmarks where 6970 is faster than 580.

These predictions are boringly accurate. I'm going for wild, unfounded speculation.

"In a completely unsuspected twist, the 6950 actually out-performs the 6970 by a whopping 138% with updated drivers. Marketing apologizes for the confusion."

580>6970>570>6950.

at higher res/AA levels amd will be more competitive due to the 2gb ram.

at anything less than 2560x1600 nvidia will be clear cut leader. could lead to strange situation where the ultra high end gamers end up getting a good discount b/c the cheaper cards will work just as well for them.

@deimos: they would just add a few descriptive terms like "gtx ++ black edition" and everyone would understand. ;)

I'd actually believe that (well maybe not the 138% bit).:D

Edit: Actually no I wouldn't believe it, when has marketing ever apologised for anything? They'd just waffle something about choice being good and award themselves a day off at a health spa.

Not so big, but here goes.

In easy, low load games, min, avg, and max fps will be identical.

Review sights will be slammed tonight, tomorrow :)

Unsure with all the conflicting data floating around. But it's a given that whatever the results are from the initial reviews the performance of the 69xx series will increase with driver updates....Well after all everybody does say that AMD/ATI's drivers suck!...Even tho I've had no issues that I didn't create.

I predict that if and when the 69xx series does outperform or even come close to the GTX 5xx the battle will be moved towards PhysX or CUDA!

I have already made the prediction in another thread that the GTX 580 will, in fact, be faster than itself.

Unfortunately after starting your PC your video card vanishes into the paradox vortex it creates so its hard to get accurate benchmark results.

580>570OC>570>480>6970>470>560>6950

The 6970 will also be slower than a 5970.

595 > 6990

My prediction too, 580 and 6970 will trade blows, some games one is faster, another its the other way around, overall by maybe 5% or so the 580 will be faster.

After reviews... like 4 months down the line, I think the 6970 might be faster overall... new archs always give problems(drivers), and they are doing 4D shaders now instead of 5D.

I think the 6970/6950s will OC like mad, and be insane value once OCed.

Crossfire scaleing is even better in the 69xx cards than the 68xx cards... so 4xx and 5xx cards in SLI wont be faster there.

*** NOTE:

Next month the 1# will belong to the 6990 (the dual gpu card), probably beating the 580 by like 80% if all you compare is 1 card vs 1 card.

I guess WelshBloke did say to just make stuff up but do you really think that the 6850 and 6950 will be neck and neck? Same thing with the 5870 and 6970?

Good. More cards for the rest of us if they turn out to have excellent performance per dollar.

That is an awesome quote. I may just have to steal it. It is the closest thing I have seen to an actual fanboy post, where it seems that you are cheering on a sports team, but in actuality you are cheering on a Graphics Card company to have higher performance than a competing company. :awe:
