I have a retired U.S Navy Toshiba laptop (600MHzCeleron) and it came with a nylon Targus case. That is what I use to store/transport it. I rarely travel so it basically just stays at home. I paid about $200 for it, bought a wireless NIC, upgraded the RAM and loaded Win2k on it (it came with WinME, which is a horrible POS). It is perfect for internet and e-mail, I can sit at the island in our kitchen and surf the internet or just type useless posts like this while ignoring my wife and son...just kidding. 😀

$19.95 at buy.com and ebags for the creme one.
I don't see how you can go wrong at that price.

I go to compusa check out the samsonite backpack physically and compared to targus side to side.

The samsonite one is like the jansport, thin material

compared to targus which has more padding and more room.. much more expensive thought...

I feel uneasy with laptop backpacks, especially Targus ones which are so blatantly labaled. It's like "Hey steal me! This is a laptop backpack!"

that's also my concern...

probably look into laptop sleeve option..

still open to suggestions.

I carry mine back and forth to work every day in a regular backpack that I got free when I opened an account at my bank several years ago. Been carrying this unit for several months, and carried a previous laptop for a couple of years in the same bag. I use a cheap leather Targus laptop case when flying just so it does have a little cushioning in case it gets banged around on trips.

i just stick it in my jansport backpack (the regular small one) along with my books..

its a 12" Apple PB

FYI: Amazon.com is having a sale on Targus bags.

For dressier business occasions, I use a black leather laptop briefcase--the type with all kinds of pockets and expandable compartments.

For casual, I use a laptop backpack.

When I need to haul the laptop and nothing else, I have a slim no-frills Targus case.

I bought a monkey to carry mine. Sometimes he wanders off but usually he's cool about staying near enough that I can still get to the laptop whenever I need it.

Also, I've attracted a lot more women since making this investment and that's a definite plus.

same here. only it's not scratched or anything because the convertible tablet that i'm using has this tight leather sleeve on it.

whao! sfbags.com stuff ARE EXPENISVE!!!

that Samsonite Backpak looks cool and all for school or for personal use, but for work a backpak makes you look like a kid, no?

I am digging that Vanguard Luxor case. but I wonder is it a good idea to have a "hard" case rather than a soft nylon one. I mean, with a nylon one I can squeeze in extra stuff, while with a "hard" case I am stuck with what the case allow me to put in.
