Hey there :) ,
Currently I have a T410 Thinkpad (1st Gen i5 M560 @ 2.67GHz ,4GB RAM, Sam 750 Evo 120 GB SSD @240MBPS :( , 1440x900 Reso)( Refurbished :p )
But its So darn heavy :( ! It has that extra big battery butt too, makes it even more heavier..

So guys, please help me pick a comparatively new and light laptop model. Hopefully a Thinkpad.
Thanks a lot!!

You either want a T410s, T420s or T430s. After that they get pricey. Those are 14" screens. If you want to go smaller X201, X220 and X230 featuring 12" screens and around 3 pounds. The S series above is around 4lbs. I collect thinkpads, long story but I have them all!!!

There only draw bag is, they weigh too much.. Guess there is no sane light/thin Thinkpad options :(

The X201 is the same generation as your T410. It weighs 3lbs and is extremely thin and light. One generation newer is the x220 with the Sandy Bridge i5/i7 processor.

Oh, consider a refurbished/new Dell E7470/E7480. Usually you can find those for $500-$600 on eBay, including a 256GB SSD, 1080p IPS display and an I5. Got like 5 of these (not all together) to friends and family and another one for myself (already an "old" E7470). They all come with around 3 years warranty
