You college football fans are hilarious what with your defense of the BCS, belief that Kiffin is a scumbag, and thought that Del Rio would be a good college coach.

Jack Del Rio's act would NOT go over well is SoCal or D1-A. Just think of how many sanctions he'd incur when he brought an axe into the locker room and had his 18 year old punter put it into his own leg.

And seriously Tennessee and SEC fans? Kiffin's trash? "I'm not going to be the coach at Alabama." Urban Meyer didn't leave Utah in the best shape. How was it when Petrino left the Falcons? Don't act like you're all butthurt. You know that Tenn will 'steal' some other college coach from some other program and you'll be cheering when it happens, you hypocritical boobs. What if Tennessee hires Muschamp from Texas? He just signed what, a lifetime contract or something! But hell, if it happens then Tenn is awesome and Muschamp is a savior, right?

Edit: Plus, having Kiffin in LA means more media publicity for his wife.

Kiffin has never won sht in his life and never will. This is a blessing for TN fans to get that sleazeball outta there (and I can't stand TN and was joyous when Kiffin went there). Let him take his sorry act to USC and still lose with the some of the best recruits in the country. He never earned anything in his life except the right to ride daddy's coattails and he'll now make losing a family tradition at SC.

Pulling an assistant coach is not the same as pulling a head coach. I will feel bad for any school if UT takes their head coach because that usually leads to most of the staff leaving as well. In the case of Muschamp you're just taking Muschamp from Texas and not the entire staff.

Anyway, I'm a UT fan and if you go back to page 2 you'll see my stance on this whole farce that is big time college football. The players are the ones that get screwed 9 times out of 10. And the fans are typically people who never even attended one class at the school (but might actually work there as a janitor or something).

Agreed, the whole concept that players "Sign with the school and not the coach" is BS.

The NCAA needs to do something about coaches just up and leaving for another school whenever it suits them while under contract. It didn't use to happen enough to warrant a penalty but lately it has gotten horrible.

They need to do a football rule like the NFL.. you sit out for 1 year.

Good riddance kiffen... but UT had some damn fine talent in this years recruiting class. I guess we will hear of a lot of de-commitments soon from these players. This will set UT back 3-4 seasons to rebuild.

without urb' to talk trash to there just wasn't anything left for him in the SEC.

I guess he realized that with having Florida, Alabama, LSU as neighbors a BCS championship was not in his future any time soon.

Another example of how Kiffen's move screws the players, UT has some recruits coming in as mid-term enrollees. Well, they were locked into UT at 12:01 AM this morning and UT has no plans to let them go.

Reportedly, Orgeron was already calling around to some of UT's recruits to get them to change their commitments to USC at the same time that Kiffin was meeting with the players.

What a class act.

God. You SeC fans...

You act like every other SeC coach wasn't instantly on the phone calling recruits as soon as the news broke.

I am sure that every other school jumped on the USC recruits when news of Pete Carroll leaving broke.

The SeC is just getting their panties in a bunch over that fact that a school outside of the SeC is the one trying to poach the players.

already been confirmed by players. He also contacted some of the EE's after 12:01am which is a big no-no.

difference is they weren't making calls from UT's football offices. Kiffin/Orgeron are d-bags

Pat Forde of ESPN.com

At this rate, Lane Kiffin is an 8-5 season at USC away from a $50 million contract to coach Peyton Manning and the Colts.

Seriously, why not? If a 31-year-old with no head-coaching experience can get the Oakland Raiders job, and a guy who got fired from that job after losing 15 of 20 games can get the Tennessee job, and a guy who went 7-6 in a reckless first season in Knoxville can get the USC job … is there any rung of the sport to which Kiffin cannot climb?

Paris Hilton has paid more dues than Lane Kiffin.

interesting since he was still meeting with UT players around 930-10pm

Source? The LA Times and USC say that's bullshit.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spo...n-pete-carroll-lane-kiffin-usc-tennessee.html

There was a rumor started by a guy at Volquest.com (A Vols fansite) that Orgeron was tampering with recruits Tuesday night, but that's likely to be sour grapes.

Then there's GoVolsExtra.com (another Vols fansite) citing "sources". That's not too reliable.

Now, the one "story" I saw on an ESPN College Football blog may be the closest in resolving this. In that "story" Orgeron was calling mid-term enrollees fron his Tennessee cell phone. In that case, he could be in LA and "meeting" with Tenn players. If you buy that then the LA Times/USC blurb is technically right that Orgeron was in LA but gives the false impression that he wasn't contacting UT recruits and the Tennessee story is technically wrong in that Orgeron wasn't meeting with Tenn players from his office but impliedly correct in that some shenanigans were going on.

don't really care if you believe me or not. I'm a mod on a UT board and the source was on campus. And the sources on VQ are solid as well. Some posters there aren't but the main guys are
