It's water under the bridge.

If it's true it wouldn't surprise me one bit considering the track record that pro cycling has with doping. If we were to test other 5-10 year old samples in any sports I'm sure there would many other positives.

Oh, and also repost.

A statement by Lance Armstrong
regarding the L?Equipe article:

8/22/2005 - "Yet again, a European newspaper has reported that I have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. Tomorrow?s L?Equipe, a French sports daily, is reporting that my 1999 samples were positive. Unfortunately, the witch hunt continues and tomorrow?s article is nothing short of tabloid journalism.

The paper even admits in its own article that the science in question here is faulty and that I have no way to defend myself. They state: ?There will therefore be no counter-exam nor regulatory prosecutions, in a strict sense, since defendant?s rights cannot be respected.?

I will simply restate what I have said many times: I have never taken performance enhancing drugs."

ESPN has an overview of what is going on, I guess take it with a grain of salt as always.

Lance uses EPO?

The main problem is that the tests back then were anonymous. They have a 6 digit number on the vials indicating that one of the riders tested positive. They found some paper work somewhere else that shows the same number on medical documents with Lance's name. But there is no direct proof that the two numbers are for the same thing, or that they mean those samples are his.

So there some speculation. There is also the issue of whether the samples were still any good after hanging around for so many years in a freezer. Additionally, the paper writing the article is owned by the same company running the Tour. So who knows, a lot getting thrown around.

Additionally, due to the anonymity of the testing, the lab turned over the results on the condition that they would not be used in any proceedings.

The anonymity thing plus the vagaries regarding the handling of these samples the last 6 years means this is basically a pile of crap.

I knew he was doping, I say they take away all his medals. Unless you guys think he should hold onto them, what ever I'm cool with it.
