LAN Party

How hard is it to host a LAN PARTY? I would like it to be 80-150 people. I know where to get space. (Centry II Expo HAll!!!)

Difficulty is not a concern. However, cost is. Advertising the LAN party and getting people to show up isn't that difficult with a little effort. However, it will cost you a lot of money. The main cost will be for the rental space. Then you have to consider whether or not people have to bring their own network cables, where to get a big-ass router(s), and refreshments.

EDIT: The other big thing is getting people the games that you're going to play, you might want to keep it simple like CS or DOD, games that pretty much everyone and their mother have.

There is a snak stand and i can get CAT 5 cable cheap. (I'll Sweet talk the cable/telephone/ISP compny into cableing and routers)

you need cat-5e cables, hubs and/or switches, and power is a serious issue. unless you can rent out a LAN center, you need a good building with sufficient power for that many people. and as long as you advertise properly, people will come. hand out flyers, put up ads on the internet, post it on forums, etc. etc.

You tell them to buy the games. You also might want to start a little smaller. I been hosting 32 and 48 man partys and it is a ton of work.

How do you get the game you are playing to the people playing??

lol, they have to own the game that you want them to play. unless you want to buy one copy of the game for everyone attending  usually guys just pirate them off each other and then get no-CD cracks and server cracks

power is always the biggest problem.

and ever since steam, getting an internet connection has been a problem too, or else you have people with different game versions.

That's been a while.

Your going to need an admision fee and a bring your own food policy... With that many people you probabily won't get time to play any games you'll be to busy with servers and network issues. Oh yeah you need some dedicated servers almost forgot that..

As has been said, I've done a LOT of 10 man lans with friends, and had no problem, but with 80+ people, you're gonna need dedicated serviers, enterprise class switches, security, tables and chairs, entry fess (with collections and the like), possibly catering.

Basically, employees for the day.

Don't even bother. You can't afford it. Furthermore, setting up the network inforstructure is quite a task. You will need a hub per 8-10 people, switches and servers. Where are you going to get all the network equipment? Are you going to get it for free? Of corse not. You will probably have to buy it, and that's expensive. Why not you get 10 of your friends over and game for a night?

I used to do that all the time, it takes a little while to get everyone hooked up but it's quite fun while it lasts.

Haha 😛
Most of the time people bring their own computer and games CDs.
You should probably go with a game like CS, because that's really popular and most people who go.
The biggest problem is cost (cost for any food, renting the place) and another is time and organization.
I'd start with something smaller like maybe 32 people?
Good Luck, though

Sorry this lan isnt happening. Even if you were as mature and smart as an adult, no one would take you seriously. Im afraid your going to have to wait for another 6 years 🙁. Besides, start smaller.
