LAN parties are for dorks?

I reallize my name reflects that of a gamer... its more of a joke, however.

If you've ever been to a LAN party, you know that 95% of the people there are nerds and geeks. Does that make them dorks? I dunno, but definitely nerds.

And male. There's no girls at those things at all.

What makes one dorks? Socially inept? They're not exactly socially inept if they have a LAN party.
Not having a gf? Hell, the last one I went to, many had good friends and gfs.. Myself have a beautiful gf as well.

the ones I go to (organized) most of the guys i met were some hella cool bastards... there were a FEW nerds there... not very many. about average you'd see on a daily basis in school for example... it is NOT a nerdfest.

That LAN parties I go to actually have girls. I kid you not. My ladyfriend, my buddy's sister, and some chick with purple hair always show up. Granted, they don't really game, it's more of a social thing.

Well, first off, I don't consider people that spend all their time in front of a computer a dork. Those are geeks. As far as I'm concerned, there's a big difference between a nerd, a geek, and a dork. There's nothing wrong with being a geek sometimes; I think most of us on these forums are geeks, but we may not all be nerds or whatnot. That being said, no, I don't think LAN parties (or any sort of gaming get-together) are big dorkfests. There's no difference really between some friends getting together one night and staying up playing computer games versus some friends getting together and playing PS2 all night.

but I've never been to a LAN party in my life :Q
