Police said his modified Corvette had a red button behind the stick shift. They were investigating whether the button was used to inject nitrous oxide into the fuel line to make the car go faster.

They couldn't just pop the trunk and check for a bottle? Or maybe it was too mangled to check? Anyway, that button tells me he was using it. I don't know what else it would be for.

They are safe. But safe to an extent. If he was going 70 and the oncoming traffic 40.... well you do the math and tell me what cars would be safe at that speed in a head on collision

that is very sad, regardless of the details that led to it, and yes they are both guilty, i cant belive someone would act so idotic as to race on the highway _with_ thier own wife in the car, if he doesnt care for the safety of other people on the highway i would think he would at least care for his wife safety, that makes me mad :|

What I want to know is, why was a Corvette driver STUPID enough to try to race a Lamborghini. He KNEW he was gonna get OWNED anyway:Q

I heard the Vette was heavily modified... Maybe he did have a chance... We don't know what was under the hood...

I thought the vette had NOS, or am I getting my stories mixed up?
I thought I read that they found a little red button near the shifter.
If so, the Lambo wouldn't get a good look at the Vette.

This MIGHT be a reasonable estimate as to the 'Vette's capability, 1990 isn't a particularly spectacular year. Granted, this is TT & not NOS, but it's still significantly better than stock.

This is a reasonable guess as to the Diablo's performance.

Draw your own conclusions.

I used to date a girl near there quite a few years ago. Drag racing was a big problem then, and this shows that it still is. I find it sad that the only reason that it even made the news is because one of the dudes had a lambo.🙁

Two days ago, this porche 911 turbo 2001 was driving like 140mph on the street.

Freaken crazy

He was at a red light. I had right of way to right turn, so I made the turn and drove "normal" at 50mph...then, they get the green and he drives normal...sudduenly, this s2000 (white single man) guns it (remember, he didn't stop at red light, but had the green) takes it to 80mph...so I begin accelarating to 80mph (not racing, we weren't reving nor looking at each other; minding our business)...then suddenly, the porche revess engine (YOU COULD HEAR IT...he was way behind us) and guns it...his wiFE WAS IN THE CAR TOO...takes it to like 140-150mph and then on the turn into the freeway, was on the inside lane and still driving 100mph+...

freaken pyscho...couple times he was almost hit by other cars...if not for the great porche brakes

Yeah, the Lambo is much faster and quicker stock, but who knows how many mods were done to the Corvette.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think that the Vette owner didn't have as fast a car, but thought he did. He probably had a big chip on his shoulder and must have a been a hot head. And the Lambo owner of course, couldn't back down to a lowly Corvette. He probably had an attitude as well. :disgust:
