<< One more thing...

I don't agree with the manslaughter charge for the 'Vette driver. Charge him with street racing, charge him with reckless driving, charge him with anything related to what he actually did. It was illegal, stupid, & dangerous as hell.

However...

He's not the one that was friggin' stupid enough to pass in the path of oncoming traffic, & he had no control over the Lamborghini's driver.

Nail him with all the driving charges you want, but manslaughter is ridiculous.

Doggiedog

I bet he wishes to God he didn't have that right about now...

I have to disagree with you on that part. I understand he had no control over the idiot that crossed over to the other lane which killed the innocent peeps, but keep in mind that he did contribute to it. He did participate in it, thats why it's manslaughter, a accomplice if you will.

danny~!

Getting it increased to Murder 2 would be very hard. Murder 1 would be impossible. I would not be surprised to see at least one wrongful death suit come out of this. That guy driving the 'vette was lucky to survive, but he'll be paying for this the rest of his life.

I can see how the wife in the Volvo is still living as they are well constructed but from seeing the Lambo I'm amazed the other wife lived.

I think an ambitious prosecutor might well charge this as second-degree murder, which does not require intent to kill, but rather a depraved indifference to human life. I think a reasonable fact-finder could say that this kind of street racing constituted second-degree murder, or alternatively the lesser included offense of manslaughter.

the issue here is that someone is to blame, no matter what. Right now someone needs to take the blame for this and guess who is still alive to take the heat? thats right, the other racer. I bet you that if no one from the people involved were alive someone still would be blamed. That is the problem with today, for every tragic occurance, someone needs to be blamed on, either justice wise or law suit wise. :disgust:

danny~!

i can understand racing in the middle of the night, with no passengers in the car with you...

but sh!t, it was the middle of the afternoon, almost rush hour, and the guys fvckin wives were in the car! what retards...

i would never even think about racing if a loved one was in my car with me...

I Would Tend to agree... I Think He Should serve some jail time & have his lissence suspended for severail years, However He Cannot be blamed for another's actions. Unless he used that vette to ram the Lambo into the other lane it is not his fault that the driver of the lambo decided to break another law & Drive into on comming traffic....

But than again according to the definition of manslaughter he can be charged & the example used here can even be related to this instance.

they do have badass wife's if they sat there and let them race. Most girls I ride with get mad if I am +20 over the speed limit not even racing anybody. 🙂

7-8 years ago a guy in a dodge stealth racing a mustang careened into a bus stop relieving two young girls of their lives. I'm not sure what punishment he got. Yes it was an accident, but I don't believe it was more than a few years in jail at most.

<< Witnesses said the race began when both cars revved their engines at the intersection of Lawson and Weidner Avenue. They drove south down the four-lane street, which has two lanes in each direction.

Two blocks later, Vasapolli's Lamborghini careened head-on into Jacofsky's black 2000 Volvo on the other side of the dividing line, killing both drivers.

Police said Vasapolli crossed the center line in order to pass a light-colored 1981 Cadillac driving south and could not get back into the southbound lanes in time.

"The Lamborghini, when he has a slower moving vehicle in front of him, goes into the oncoming lane, and he strikes the Volvo,? Smith said. "The Corvette, in his attempt to miss everything, loses control, leaves the road and strikes a fence and a parked school bus on private property.?

Both Jacofsky's and Vasapolli's wives were in the cars with them. Jacofsky's wife, Amy, 41, was taken to Long Beach Hospital, and Vasapolli's wife, Karen Mauro, 31, was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, Smith said. No information about their conditions was available yesterday.

You know that if it killed someone in a volvo, it had to be a nasty accident. Probably driver side to driver side head on. Something tells me that Vasapolli's wife is going to be living on welfare after Jacofsky's lawers get done with her husband's estate.

Personally along with jail time I think the Lamb should be displayed in the Vets owners yard with a big sign saying "This is what happens when you drag" Then have pictures of the people who died on display as well.

I don't even think these 2 knew each other. They just came up to a light and for some reason, they decided to race as soon as the light turned green.

A souped-up 1990 Corvette involved in the deadly race was equipped with a roll bar and a professional race car-type seat belt harness ? and had a vanity license plate reading LOV2XLR8 (Love to Accelerate), cops said.

Police said his modified Corvette had a red button behind the stick shift. They were investigating whether the button was used to inject nitrous oxide into the fuel line to make the car go faster. A man who answered the phone at Hart's house yesterday declined to comment.
