There is a nasty picture of a wrecked Lamborghini that was racing a Corvette in today's NY Times Metro section B6. The driver and a driver of a Volvo were killed.

Sorry, I couldn't find the links to the pic.

yea...I heard it on the radio this morning too. Dang....its a brand spanking new 2001 Lamborghini too. Although Lamborghini is a sports car, I personally would not race it in the street, and secondly its a pickup car.

Here is the link to the story.

Lamborghini & Corvette Duel.

Why are you so suprised? If the fscking asshole wasn't racing, a driver of a volvo minding their own business would still be alive today.

Glad someone is getting charged. There's rumors that this race is Fast and The Furious related, due to its time of occurance. Thanks for the link, I wanted to see the entire story. I'll probably cry when I see the lamborghini. In my other post about it, I mentioned that you'd think the lamborghini driver would have more sense then that. Course, if you buy a $300,000 sports car, maybe you don't always think with your [larger] head

Well, I've never seen a situation where both drivers got caught. One always gets away.

Well the driver of lambo got jailtime alright - 6 feet under. Unfortunately so did the driver of the volvo. Both cars involved in collision had passengers (driver's wife).

Well, at least the driver was driving a Lambo so you know he's got money.

It could have been worse. It could have been a POS 15 YO Yugo hitting them.

People with that much money should have a lot more sense. Too bad they both couldn't have died, & left their wives + the bystanders alive.

One more thing...

I don't agree with the manslaughter charge for the 'Vette driver. Charge him with street racing, charge him with reckless driving, charge him with anything related to what he actually did. It was illegal, stupid, & dangerous as hell.

However...

He's not the one that was friggin' stupid enough to pass in the path of oncoming traffic, & he had no control over the Lamborghini's driver.

Nail him with all the driving charges you want, but manslaughter is ridiculous.

I bet he wishes to God he didn't have that right about now...

Did you see the license plate on the Corvette? LUV2XLR8.

What I don't understand is if you're driving a Lambo, why do you have to prove yourself to some guido driving a POS C4 Corvette?

Nice find RaoulDuke.

If he hadn't raced, two people would be alive. That makes him very responsible, IMHO. Manslaughter is too light a charge.

Bah, I knew when I posted that I'd catch flack for saying it. I can't really grieve for a person I didnt know. It's a shame there are two families without fathers/husbands, and I feel bad for their families. That lamborghini however, was hand built (as they all are), and someone spent some time on it. It is a thing of beauty, and when the assembler finds out his car is trash, he may weep as well.

Now don't post asking if a life isn't a thing of beauty as well, just think I'm a mean person :p

I kind of agree with Viper GTS here. the manslaughter charge is a little harsh (although its second degree, which if its like murder, is unplanned manslaughter). But on the other hand, if this gets the attention it should (and I'll do my best so people hear about it), it might discourage others from doing it. And less racing on crowded streets is a good thing.

I got no problem with where your sentiments are MrBond, you're just being honest.
