I'm about 15 miles south of downtown too and it's been piling up like mad. Funny enough my friends in tonawanda sent me a picture of 0 accumulation
That picture is freaky. I thought you were totally bullshitting with that claim of 42", but a quick check of the news shows that you're not. Some areas can expect more than five feet before this event is done.
Where's that thread with all the manly men that said they would shovel, because running a snowblower early in the morning is rude?
Y'all keep that snow right there. No need for it to come any further.
Once Lake Erie freezes, you'll be mostly done with snow for the winter, right?

It's probably still raining down there.
edit: Ah, nevermind, the snow is just skirting them so far.
Usually, it doesn't rain when it's 20 to 25 degrees F. (Was 10F this morning here, 45 miles in a straight line SSE; but usually the lakes moderate the temperature this time of the year & keep it a little bit warmer as you move north.)
Cattaraugus/Allegany County border: sort of sunny - the sky is whitish from light snow being blown over, but nothing coming down to the ground. Windy, chilly.
Kind of bummed we didn't also get 42" of snow. That would have been fun.
edit: whoa. Now calling for 70-75" of snow in Lancaster by the end of this today? Then, perhaps another couple more feet Wednesday night? 6 feet of snow in less than 24 hours - Amazing.
Aunt Margaret in Buffalo had a radiant floor installed in her TV room and that's where she spends the winter.
LOL, I know, I thought the cold front had not passed through there yet.
I grow up on the Lockport area, and I remember a couple of winters when the snow actually drifted up to the eaves on one side of the house. My brothers and I would climb up onto the roof and dive into the snow drift.![]()
I think they had that much snow 2 feet ago.I hate lake effect snow.
here is what happened last time we were hit with serious lake effect snow:
