I'm an hour east and we got maybe 2-3 inches? But the roads here aren't plowed well. Thankfully I have AWD and a fresh set of winter tires, so it's working quite well. Drive carefully and be safe everyone

Or just stay inside. SNOWDAY!!! :p

I think they had that much snow 2 feet ago. :p
we ended up with 1 meter of snow.

I took that pic Tuesday morning before the storm intensified. Most of the snow came Tuesday afternoon/evening.

here's an update of the Buffalo snow storm:

http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/1...ls-buffalo-as-all-50-states-drop-to-freezing/

I know what its like to receive huge amounts of snow.

I hope everyone there is doing ok.

Doing Ok here... I think I have about a total of 6 ft snow... beginning to worry about the integrity of peoples roofs now. saw on the local news a few have collapsed. In the next couple days forecast is calling for middle 50-60 deg f with rain ... going to make for some extremely wet heavy snow and flooding in some areas

while I love snow (I think cold weather is a waste without any snowfall), that would be way too much snow. Can't even go out to enjoy it. Gonna cause some big problems when all that starts melting.

I'm still calling shenanigans on that picture of the snow busting through the doors. Plenty of physics people here... what do the rest of you think? I believe that mother nature had the help of a lot of human intervention. If you search, you can find tons of pictures of people who opened their doors, and the snow doesn't tumble in - it just stays there. It doesn't behave like a fluid exerting much of a horizontal force at all. If you have a 6 foot snow drift over your sidewalk, you can cut straight down through it, making a vertical wall of snow - no horizontal forces. And, certainly not enough horizontal forces to smash a door off its hinges and tumble 7 or 8 feet into a room with a depth of barely over 4 feet. Search Google - find another image of someone's door or window being smashed open. You can find endless images of snow up over windows - snow deeper than doors (which wasn't the case for that door - they took pictures just before and after).

Methinks the motivation was to get 15 minutes of fame.

I get what you're saying, I just don't know if I agree with the motivation. I don't think people would cause so much intentional damage just for a picture. If anything, I would lean towards somebody trying to get an insurance claim out of it... but would such a thing even be covered or does it fall under the "act of god" crap?
