Most Nautica things are big too.

And what is the size 4 and 5 from above? Do they use different sizes where you are?

Lacoste does not equal Izod. Lacoste polos run $70+, and are generally higher quality then most polos. That's not just me being snotty...I own polos from various companies, and Lacostes have the best quality.

They use European sizes, since it's a French company, hence the 4 and 5 from above.

I'm sorry, but no polo is worth $70.

For you, maybe that's true. For me, it isn't. Nothing wrong with that.

Lacoste is, and almost always has been, a status symbol. It is considered a preppy brand because it demonstrates that the wearer has $95 (retail) to blow on a shirt. I would argue that most Lacoste polo wearers are completely unaware of (and, quite frankly, not interested in) the difference in actual quality of the shirt.

Is my torch a $100 status symbol?

I have to say the material quality of Lacoste shirts is not very good on close inspection. Nor are their designs anything to write home about.

I think Tommy Hilfiger is the master of the polo shirt, though you can also get some pretty good ones at Express.

Paying $80 for a Lacoste is just 😕.

I got mine for $5.

But the crocodile's mouth is closed and logo faces towards my right side instead of left side.

I like the quality of fabric on this one.....better than my Tummy Hilfigure and Nautikka.

The shirts are not $95 retail. They're actually $72 (may be $74, but I think its $72) for a short-sleeve polo.

Quality of Lacoste is better then any polo I've ever worn, and they just look good b/c of their fit. I buy them for that reason...if other people don't, what do I care?

How the hell do you even come to know one brand of clothing from another? I have no idea what brand my clothes or shoes are! And, $75.00 for a shirt! Christ, and I thought Apple was the hype marketing king!

except i can tell the difference on games between a $250 card and a $75 card

i can easily find polos that im more than happy with for under $30.

i still remember this guy who brought a red polo in to be cleaned....we washed it, like we do all polos, and it came out like it was made for a 7 year old.

"dry clean only"

he paid $100 for a cotton shirt that couldnt be washed. useless, and stupid, considering most stains people get on shirts are water-based (food, drink, perspiration, etc)

You guys pay to replace that thing?

yeah, had to, the label said "dry clean only, do not wash"

thing is, thats the only time in 25 years my dad has ever seen a cotton polo say that. we dont usually check labels on blue jeans, khaki pants, laundered shirts, and polo knits because theyre always washable.

except the one this pompous ass bought. really, 100 bucks for a cotton shirt that you cant wash....and wasnt even pre-shrunk to size. to me, that says "low quality, high price tag"

Mine all used to fit just right...then they all shrunk and now they're all too small...

In terms of quality my Jcrew polos are the best quality and fit..

I think izod owns lacoste, because some of their polos say izod lacoste.
I believe Izod used to own Lacoste, but Lacoste split away, and both companies have their own line of clothing now.

Not surprisingly, Izod clothes seem to be cheaper without the iconic alligator. 🙁

Go on the web and take alook at their sizing chart. Then compare it to the sizing chart of a stoer you already have clothes from

I used to wear Lacoste shirts as a little kid when you could buy them at Mervyns and when prices where not inflated. I did not out grow them that fast so they must have een a little big.

by bf wears S or even XS size stuff, and whenever i wear his lacoste polos, they fit well.

they get a big baggy on me from the middle of my torso and down though.

but then, i'm a skinny(5' 11" - 120 lbs.) girl with curves 😛 .

Don't your customers specify whether they want their clothes laundered or dry cleaned?

I'm not going to criticize anyone for spending their money on an expensive polo - but I always think it's funny when these discussions come out, people always fall back on quailty as the excuse. Having never had a polo fall apart or in any other way fail on me, I'm not quite sure how people come to the conclusion that these clothes are higher quality. They rarely back it up, they just say it.

If they didn't have the little crocodiles on them, I don't think Lacoste would be able to get $70 for their "quality" shirts.

This from the guy who was tired of paying $200 for good jeans and wanted to start his own line of cheap but good jeans... A good polo shirt doesn't have to cost $72. And just because a shirt costs $72, that doesn't mean it's better than a $20 shirt.

FYI i never paid more than $50 for a pair of jeans. But I can tell you $200 jeans are very good quality. I have a pair of Adriano Goldschmied I got for $30 from a friend who owns the factory that makes them and I have to say the material is nicer, design is good and fit is much better than the $50 jeans I have from BR.

But yes, $72 is a ridiculous price for that shirt. IMO it's worth about $40 max.
