According to TMZ she has more than 100 hours of recordings. She claims she made them at Sterling's request, because he would forget about things he'd said in conversation. Presumably the recordings will tell us whether that's true, since in 100 hours he would almost certainly have mentioned being recorded if he was aware of it.

As an aside, how is it that we are more than 24 hours into this scandal and we still don't know her first name? Very strange . . . Plus she is going around dressed like this:

:D

She keeps her first name as is in order to continue receiving syndication royalties.

There is zero chance Sterling will have the clips after this year. The franchise can't survive without sponsorships, not to mention the ability to sign players and coaches, and there is no way they can successfully do this with Sterling involved in the franchise in any capacity.

Can they do that? I guess that the other 29 owners would have to decide that they don't want sterling in their frat and force him out in a vote but I don't see that happening. I bet a good majority of those owners have quite a few skeletons in the closet themselves.

If you remember back to the Marge Shott situation with the reds in the 90s she was never forced to sell her stake. She was on a 3rd suspension and decided to sell it.
What authority would the government have over ownership of a team in a professional sports league? The NBA can vote to contract to 29 teams, revoke the Clippers and buy out Sterling's stake at fair market value and he'd have no recourse. I'm not saying they will, but if the league really wanted him gone, there are ways. There's no need to have the government step in.

It could happen theoretically. In reality, there's zero chance. They have an article up on ESPN that details the potential legal remedies the NBA could seek, but the biggest problem with anything outside of a suspension is that Sterling is rich, stubborn and litigious and would have zero qualms about suing the pants off the NBA just to bury them in lawyers' fees. They aren't snatching his franchise unless he decides it's not worth it anymore, and there's not much hope of that happening.

Clippers TV deal is up after the 2015-2016 season. I think he'll fight pretty hard to keep them until then, if the clippers continue being good it will be worth a lot more with a better deal than with that 2009 TV deal.

Exactly. Any effort or desire by Sterling to stay is 100% DOA already imo.

Yep, already starting: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...ers-donald-sterling-purported-racist-comments

The Chumash Casino, the presenting sponsor of the Los Angeles Clippers, jumped ship Monday along with used car dealership chain CarMax and airline Virgin America as advertisers pondered their partnerships with the team in the wake of racist remarks allegedly made by owner Donald Sterling.

He has a net worth of 1.8 billion dollars. If he wants to stay owner he will, he could literally sit in a throne and light cigars with 100 dollar bills while laughing at his team purposely tanking in front of a no show crowd.

Not necessarily. There are nba bylaws made for situations like this where franchise leaders or owners become toxic to the brand. All it takes is for the other plantation owners to step up imo, and the nba can then force a liquidation or take over the franchise and/or force a buyout...i believe.

Am I the only person thinking the average American doesn't know the difference between racism, bigotry and prejudice?

Based on those tapes, how could Sterling and Marge Schott both be racist in the same universe. Marge Schott was an openly virulent racist, enough to make Sterling look like a choirboy.

And those thinking the Clippers can walk off the job don't understand contract law either. And if the Clippers players throw their remaining games... Chicago Black Sox anyone?

You were foaming at the mouth that they should have removed him as an owner. The only entity that can do it somehow is the Government.

NBA cannot since he is meeting all his financial obligation.

Yeah, foaming at the mouth. Just stating my opinion on someone I believe to be a crappy human being.

Forcibly remove him? Not likely, though they did force an owner to sell way back in the day for running the team into the ground. Probably not going to happen these days without some very extensive and costly legal battles, but they can do a lot with suspensions, etc. Not to mention hitting his pocket book with fines and also the loss in revenue from sponsorships and whatnot.

They have ways of getting things done and I will be interested to see how it plays out. It was only a matter of time before more became public about this guy being a piece of crap.

Your attempt at sensationalist humor doesn't change the fact that this was a private conversation that, apparently, was illegally recorded. Would you like to be publicly scrutinized and held accountable for every thought you had? Of course not, this isn't 1940's Germany.

It also wasn't so much about her being photographed with black people as the types of photos they were.

Some of the chicks in my life have been really social butterflies.

They would talk to everyone, they also did not have the income nor status I did.

I am not a 1%'er, put White/Black/Hispanic/Etc I told them they can't flirt with the waitstaff, the bagboy, etc.

It's not proper.

I am sure if this chick was hanging out the same way with his 'white' players and the like he'd be equally concerned.

She just likes men of color, except when it's the hand that is feeding her.

QFT.

The reality of this is the poor want to see a rich dude go down.

no?

Players not playing would be detrimental to their careers.

Their choice is only to stop playing and lawyer up if they are truly concerned.

The sad part is no one is really concerned "in the game" yet they will use this to their advantage like other coaches are now.

While I don't have a problem with Magic, many of the rich don't want to associate with him and that's because he has AIDS.

He didn't have a problem with all her pictures. Just the ones where she was looking to be more their girl than his.

I am sure a tightly wound guy like yourself would have gone batshit crazy if a photo of your girl ended up on ATOT with me even if nothing happened.

We can almost guarantee she set him up at this point.

Him crying she blackmailed him would be just adding fire to the flames.

She wants to move on and find a new sugar daddy.

It's the way it goes with these types of women.

One day you are fucking them in the $500 shoes you bought them and then a hour later she's at someone else's house repeating the process and showing what "Guy #1" bought her.

A few months later she's in $5000 shoes.
