Wow, I wanted to play with my pre-installed trial they had from before launch (I never purchased but kept the pre-install). But, apparently they want me to download all 5+GB over again. Boooooo.

Think I'll avoid playing this weekend. Can't stand non-cooperation, 'noobishness' on a normal day, sure don't want this.

Yep, noticed that yesterday. No one knew how to play, everyone was running around for themselves and generally were getting raped by smokers and hunters left and right.

You're playing it all wrong, newbs are a resource like medpacks and pipe bombs. Being chased by special infected? Maybe a tank?? No problem! Just incapacitate a nearby newb and it will distract whatever is chasing you long enough to make your escape, you might even make it all the way to the saferoom and be a hero! Be warned though theres only a possible maximum of 3 newbs per level so make emm count...

I laughed at this strategy except for the fact that noobs also don't like initiating the move forward which resulted in me dying first.

Oh ya and then you get screamed at for leaving them behind.... I hate pubbies...
There is always the one guy in VS who has to check every room and gets pounced and smoked constantly..

Yep, there was one a couple nights ago who kept on straggling behind because he wanted to take care of some smoker. I kept telling him to just let it be and keep moving but he goes "If you don't kill him now, he'll get you later." We were 15 seconds away from the safehouse and right after he killed the smoker, we got a horde. Horde ended up incapacitating two of us and then we got a hunter in the mix.

Most fun I have had playing a game in a long time!! I can't believe some of you don't find this exhilarating! Nothing like being in the dark and getting jumped by 50 zombies, or having someone accidentally set off an alarm for the first time. OMG!

To be honest I still get more of a rush from playing Battlefield 2. Nothing like running the hell away from artillery barrages as soon as the first shell hits.

Hahaha yeah, like some kinda homeless scrounger. Even if he cant carry anything else he will go into every closet and check for stuff... so annoying.

I find that a 25 damage pounce is one of the most satisfying things I've ever done in a videogame.

I find that when I have one lined up, I lean waaaayyy forwards in my seat when I'm in the air and then sit back down when I land. Only the original Doom, when dodging fireballs, would I move around as much in my seat.

I suck at long range pouncing. I lost count of the number of times I dropped a couple inches away from someone, then proceeded to get raped.

Well I got sucked in and bought the damn game. I think I prefer campaign mode, but vs. is not without its charms. I've yet to try survival, so have no idea what that's about.

Is it even worth trying single player?

KT

Sure, but play campaign online.

Well, perhaps play it with bots to get a feel for the levels, but even with half decent people, you're better off than with the bots.

Cool, thanks. I played some more "Quick Match" campaign mode last night and enjoyed it. It seems when I do Quick Match the difficulty is random, so maybe I'll stop doing that, because I prefer playing on a higher difficulty, the low difficulty games are just boring.

Is it just me, or in Versus games, do the zombies always win? I don't think I've ever seen the humans win.

Played Survival for the first time last night. I had played the demo so I sorta knew what to expect, but was still clearly the 'n00b' on my team. Before I started, we had a top time of 5:07 minutes, and I soon picked up on the very strategic uses and placements of extra items such as gas cans or propane tanks, and where a molotov was most effective.

I ended up being the last guy alive backed into a corner of the church with a shotty (my least fave weapon) but we topped the 5 minute mark and narrowly missed the 6 minute one, with 5:57 as our best time. What a serious adrenaline rush that was, and I hope to pair up with some friends tonight to see if we can't make it to the 7:00 minute mark.

For a long time since starting l4d the shotgun was my least favorite too but I've come to prefer it over the other weapons. Just make sure not to neglect the pistols for taking out smokers at long range (or hunters if your team has lone wolfs).

Find me on Steam for a good time.

I bet you say that to all the fellas.

I'd be down for a match with some of you guys, if you all don't mind a noob on your team.

Quick match just throws you into whatever it finds...

You may want to start your own lobby with the level & difficulty of your choosing & wait for people to join; or while in a game, you can vote to change difficulty.

Some servers have certain settings forced though, & you cannot modify them :frown:

As for Versus, it's easy to win as survivors on a good team.
In fact, i'd say that with two good teams in versus, it's more likely than not that the survivors will make it to the safe house most of the time.
Unfortunately, it's incredibly hard to find good players randomly online, & the more n00bs there are, the better the chances of the infected team dominating.

sardonicn7 is my steam, or add n7 thru the AT L4D group.
When i'm on the PC, i'm usually up for a game.

Just tried out Survival mode and I'm loving it. I'm looking for decent players, add Runaway Sparrow.

With good people, it's exhilarating 😀

With n00bs, it drives me insane.
(To clarify, everyone is a n00b at some point. But people who refuse to take good advice from those of us who are good at the game, ffs, they are hopeless...)

I picked up 8 golds in the last two nights, simply by playing with a good group of guys i know from BU forums (BeyondUnreal).

It's actually kinda easy getting gold when everyone understands the game.
I think i got the 8 golds in like 13 tries, three of those because of a 4th stupid pubber being dumb.

But dear lord, try playing with people who just don't get it, & wow, it's frustrating.

I shall add ya, as i've added those who have posted their steam info.

I added you too, KeithTalent, a couple days ago.

Hey, is there any point to getting the achievements, or are they just for show?

You know in TF2 how you unlock new weapons and whatnot when you get achievements, is there anything like that here?

KT

anyone notice survival has nearly zero replay value once you get all the golds? there needs to be other incentives to play it after you get all the golds.
