Kyle is perhaps a little hotheaded and likes to mouth off :P

Hmm maybe because he knows that the performance of the r520?? I dunno. Would he be dissing ATI suddenly if the cards suddenly massivly outperformed the GTX????

"Canuck" actually angers you, or you're mad he flamed ATI?

I was kinda being sarcastic.

I don't really care what some whiney baby has to say, but he seemed a tad immature, & i don't appreciate people who diss Canada 😛, since we are practically an extension of the USA anyway...

Ha I have a bunch of Loonies(also known as canadian currency to those who dont know) since Canada is so close, me and the lady are going there for halloween and getting drunk off our arses on Irish and Scottish ale

Ahhh good ole Windsor 😀

I have a lot of US coinage, & some bills from trips below the border.

Since our dollar has been lower than teh US since the 80s (i think, forget what years that was), we have a lot of smaller US coins in circulation.

Was terrible when I left a few years ago... something like 66 cents to the dollar. The second I crossed the border it started climbing and is now something like 80 cents. Figures, I'm bad luck =P

And what is a Canuck? Apologies if thats some form of offensive word, you American people are weird.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&oi=defmore&q=define:canuck
"Canuck" is a term for "Canadian" in American English and Canadian English, sometimes meaning "French Canadian" in particular, especially when used in the Northeast of the United States and in Canada.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canuck

Have to wonder why anyone would care about that? That's like me being offended at being called a "Yankee"?

It wasn't the word "Canuck" that was mildly offensive; it was the context in which it was used. It would be like saying that yankees are a bunch of lying bastards. In any event, it didn't really bother me. Some people have nothing better to do than bitch about Kyle Benett, or bitch about Crossfire not being available yet. 😉

Let's put it this way. If someone replaced Canucks with the "N" word (I think we all know which one that is), would that all of the sudden make it offensive?

It'd be used the exact same way.

I have a Brit friend that I jokingly call a limey, but I guarantee he would take it a lot differently if I called him that when angry.

Well there isn't much debate on Kyle being a loudmouth, self-rightous, idiot I don't think. He has been that from the first time I visited the site ages ago. I like their philosophy for video card reviews but beyond that I don't have much use for the site.

I do take issue with his use of Canuck to imply that all Canadians are liars. What the hell does that have to do with a video card from ATI besides that ATI happens to be from Canada?

Someone else said they wouldn't be offended if he changed the statement to say ' Yankee ' instead of Canuck. Well maybe that's because there are books like this
and websites like this

I'm not saying anything in these books or sites are true but maybe Americans are used to be calling liars. I personally take offense to it.

Belongs in P&N, guys. Nealy every country in the world has its history of bloodshed, so what? Religious upheavals are not unique to us either. So, in spite of this being in wrong category, I agree with CaiNaM here. Nationality never gives you reason to behave like an a$$, although it seems being an American is nearly synonomous with that in certain parts of the world...

I'm saying, that he isnt jingoistic.. you just dont understand him is all.

Its your perception that is incorrect.
Hes not acting like an "a$$", You need to open your eyes and mind to people who have different ways of what is considered appropriate conduct.
Saying "Canuck promises" is not inappropriate. Not to most of us.

This is overblown. And giving the site that so many of you "hate" now, even more hits and money. 😀

And btw, you didnt get what I meant by religous differences, a birthright of bloodshed ect.. there is no place in the western world where religon is thriving like it is in the USA. Its a difference of methodology that American preachers took, its the evangelical difference that seperates the USA from the rest of the west in that regard.
And I won't even go into the culture of violence and war that permeates our society. Thats enough off topic convo for me.

Point is, those complaining need to open their minds and attempt to understand Mr. Bennett.
Saying 'Canuck promises'.. unfortunately for the whining, moaning crowd is not offensive unless you start extrapolating things that arent there.

Because if you look at the past.. they've used that same terminology in similar references before.. and no massive uprising.

So what, Kyle bashes ATI.
ATI licks salty donkey sack lately.

No need to extrapolate, his useage did apply generally. Perhaps he didn't intend it to, but he should have realized that's not the way it came across and backed off rather than fired back.

Nothing there allows him to make slurs about Canadians or any other country for that matter. Being a Texan gives you no special privleges in that regard, sorry.

I agree with both of you guys.

He is a mouthy moron. The man is inept at best, the only thing he is any good at is being loud and obnoxious. I could care less about the comment towards out northern neighbors, I know I say a lot worse about other States on a daily basis- he should be ignored every day due to his complete lack of insight on anything. My distaste for his ignorance predates these forums by some time.

In all honesty ATi would be foolish to ship x8x0 CrossFire ever- it is an incredibly flawed product with pretty much no redeeming value. It should have been put forth as a proof of concept and that is all. Show us the real CrossFire parts tomorrow or soon after and make sure they are available when you say they are going to be- no paper launch five months before you ship nothing, and ATi will be back on the right track.

There is no hope for Kyle.

Drama get him hits on his site, hits get him money. More drama = more money. Of course he's an ass, the more people he pissis off the more money he makes. The rule applys almost everywhere, follow the money.

You cant put intent into a mans words that ARENT THERE.
How fair is that??

On the other hand, being a canadian gives you the right to be grossly offended at the use of the word Canuck?
I hope you are never in charge of foreign policy. :disgust: You HAVE to take comments and remarks within the cultural regard of the individual who said it..
or you'll probably end up starting a nuclear war.

Unfortunately, much to the dismay of some.. different people have different opinions on what is acceptable for speech ect.

Its called cultural differences. If thats something you are unwilling to recognize, you need to go get educated and start being more accepting of people who see the world differently from you. :disgust:

Sorry I'm not the one behaving and defending Kyle. 😉

I can't see how anyone can defend Kyle, this isn't the first time he's shown his utter ignorance and disrespect

Umm, what? There's no other way to read his words other than how he typed them. Did he intend to insult Canadains/Canucks, or didn't he?

Exactly, and if he didn't mean offense, then why bother throwing in the Canuck remark.

Since when are people so offended at what Kyle does or says? He's not politically correct, you should have known that. Geez imagine if all you whiners were Jewish or Muslim, with the constant bashing those two groups get all of you would be on depression meds.

Considering hes been using Canuck remarks for some time..
why did it just now become intended to be offensive? 😕

He noted in his explanation that hes used the term in the past many times. Why all the fuss now?
Somethign to b*tch about since hes bashing the fanboy favorite, ATI.

Can't deal with his opinion, so attack the man.
Classy.
