1) As said above, there no freaking point this late in the term

2) What high crimes and misdemeanors has Bush committed? Being unpopular and stupid isn't a crime.

This is the law

"The President, Vice President, and all other civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors."

I don't see any category under which Bush fits.

3) Congress grow a pair? Its the House that starts the impeachment process, and the Senate that votes. Congress has no say in a presidential impeachment

2.) His warrantless wiretapping program is an explicit violation of FISA, a federal felony. (actually many thousands of them)

Sounds like grounds to me.

I agree that impeaching him now isn't a good idea politically, but legally they have all the justification anyone would ever need.

Those of you who believe that anything productive will come from this stage show are even dumber than I've always suspected... which is pretty damn dumb.

You know, I disagree from a moral perspective. While politically this isn't a good move, something productive would come from it. Our society would gain an awful lot from letting the executive know in the future that some things are not okay.

It's healthy for our country and our institutions to reign in the most extreme abuses of power, and I'm not aware of any administration that has abused its power to this extent. (yes, I'm including Nixon who while more obviously criminal I believe abused his power less)

Stupid as politics, maybe.

But Bush and Cheyney and the boyz being held accountable under the law is a sign of maturity and health and strength for our nation, or do you disagree with that?

I'm enjoying the show but don't they have more important issues right now? Gas prices, the economy, steroids... anything would be more productive than this. They should've done this long ago.

This is an attempt to distract everyone from Congress' complete inability to make any real progress on any real issues... duh.

That's ridiculous.

But let's assume you know what you're talking about.

You are saying that Dennis Kucinich is trying to distract everyone from Congress' inability to do anything, while he himself has blasted the Democrats for the same reason?

The guy stood up on Congress and blasted his own party for not ending the war in Iraq.

No, PH, your post is just another diversion. Yeah, this isn't about the destructive administration in power, just partisan politics.

It's no surprise you have the reputation you do here.

Pale is correct here. Kucinich already tried, and failed MISERABLY, to introduce articles of impeachment against Cheney. He's a fuckin loon.

justice has an unpredictable yet elegant way of manifesting itself onto those that seek to suppress it or attempt to escape its grasp.

the penalties it prescribes comes in many forms, alot of which only the perpetrators of the crime will ever experience.

i'd like to think that even bush and cheney have deep down within their concience some traces of decency and righteousness that will well up within them and cause them to experience an eternity of nightmares and feelings of esxtreme anguish, guilt and sorrow over the numerous crimes they committed against a nation that entrusted their lives and livlihoods to them.

Yes, he failed because he's a "loon", not because the assholes run the show. Good joke!

That's not what PH said. But thanks for trying.

How is it a waste of our money? Congress doesn't work like a factory where they're supposed to churn out so many pieces of legislation per day. (in fact most people seem to think they should legislate less, not more) If you can point to a bill that was up for consideration and would have passed, but was instead unable to do so due to this...?

Kucinich, you're about two years too late. For this to mean anything, it should have been brought against Bush years ago... not with 8 months left in his presidential term.

Better late than never.

I applaud him for having some balls. Too bad other Democrats lack his level of integrity.

If he had any balls he would have done this years ago. As it stands now, it looks like cheap grandstanding and pandering. What is the point of starting a process that takes months to complete when there are only months left in the term of the presumptive impeached?

This administration should be held accountable for their crimes. Better late than never to make an example out of them for future reference.

Grandstanding again - wet dream for the Dem faithful.

It has to be approved by the proper committee.
It then has to be voted by the House.
The Senate then has to have the trial and then convict.

Once the summer is over, Congress is going to be concerned about their own re-election.

I never said that I agree or disagree with that... my only point was that this specific side show by Kucinich won't amount to a damn thing.

It's pure theater.

I believe that a lot of productiveness can be accomplished.

First and foremost if it gets passed would be an open trial in the Senate to show the American people just how widespread the violations of our civil liberties and constitutional rights were.

Second would be the black marks that would forever be attached to the tenures of Bush and Cheney.

Thirdly would be the importance of showing the world that we aren't just some puritanical country that will only go after a president for something sexual, but for something criminal also.
