I just hope they send me my copy of high heat 2002 @15.95 that I ordered! I can't believe their stock is at a quarter of a point. Amazon's next...

The letter means nothing. The bank was probably getting creamed by giving the rebates and nobody letting the money ride. I've seen this before with such companies as BJ's in New York State (similar to Costco and Sam's). It's meaningless.

Remember, every time a share of stock is sold by someone, it has to be bought by someone else. If the stock is so bad, who would want it? The Rockefeller's maybe?

thanks alot, so now I don't have to worry about that when mine arrives. think 16mb is more than enough for my average use.

Maybe, Siamskunk, but at compressed 3.3, it only holds 30 pics and 15 at uncompressed. I suggested getting the 64MB Viking for $55 while you can.

This Kodak 4800 is my fourth digital and about my 15th camera (I'm an old gadgit guy, not a pro photographer). From my experience something happens when you break out of the limits staying within the perimeters of the 20 or 36 exposures regular film imposes... you take many more and get much better pictures. Take Tharpertx's advice and you'll be a happier camper.

Hell, if you're reading this thread you've saved enough on this deal to do it right.

That's my 2 cents for what they are worth.

I've been taking lots of pics of my fish tank today with the kodak 4800 and it seems that it's fine in normal light settings but under low light conditions it really has a hard time focussing on subject and there is alot of noise in those pics too. I too am on my 8th or 9th camera. I just cant seem to settle into one I really enjoy. The colors are excellent but the focussing is starting to really bug me. For 340 +tax after rebate I cant complain. My fish tank pic kodak 4800

Are you using the center weighted metering Sly? I would also try the Aperature Priority mode at F2.8. You will greatly lessen the Depth of Field, but with your tank I would imagine you could get some Awesome shots of individual fish.

Any autofocus camera will focus on glass that is between you and your subject. That is why you get crappy photos from inside a car without rolling down the window. I have my Kodak at home, so cannot check this out but there is usually a "landscape" mode with a little mountain logo that locks the camera into "infinity focus" mode so that you can shoot through glass...BUT this also means you are out of focus for fish that are close to the camera. You can usually overcome this with cameras that have a manual overide feature for the focus, but the Kodak 4800 does not feature this (can't have everything). I would try using the macro mode which lessens the focal range to between 0.2m and 0.5m, this might get the fish more in focus....OR put the camera in "landscape mode and step back a couple of feet and shoot with full optical zoom. LAST idea would be to just pop the little guys out of the tank for a couple of seconds and catch them flipping around on the floor! Just kidding - don't take offense, but it would work. Good shooting

sly_630, thanks a lot for the $40 coupon and rapid response. Kudos to the one who started this excellent thread. I just got back from staples and got this camera for $468.63 (tax included already). Not the greatest price on this, but still a very good deal ($368 after $100 rebate). If anybody's interested, I got it from staples branch at Larchmont, NY. They still have a lot in stocks. I printed out the add from www.discoverycameras.com ($479). They only honored this because the add specifically noted there that the price posted is prior to the $100 Kodak rebate. Good luck to all.
