I doubt he sits out at all. Kobe will play through injuries like this, because that's what he does. My concern as a Laker fan is if he can do more damage to the finger if he doesn't get surgery on it and continues to play. If it's just going to be a discomfort, then it's on him if he wants to get the surgery or not, which I seriously doubt he does. If he's going to permanently damage his hand by playing he needs to get the surgery.

He has to think about his overall career.
I'd have surgury immediately.
His team has a decent record and with Pau and Lamar odom they should atleast make the playoffs with the 7th or 8th seed at worst I would think.
He can come back just in time for the playoffs after the surgery

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The Lakers would need to hold ship and just get into the playoffs. They would be formidable against anyone in the West.

Even as a die-hard Laker fan I don't think the Lakers can make the playoffs without Kobe for 6 weeks. In another year, maybe, but the west is just too tough and too close this year. You lose 4 straight and you go from a 3rd seed to out of the playoffs. Add to the fact that Bynum is also out and it's doubly tough. That said, I think he should get the surgery. He said his pinky has been numb during games. Now I'm no doctor, but that doesn't sound good to me. Plus now that people know it's hurt, hacks like Bruce Bowen are going to take swipes at his hand.
