He's an idol because unlike most, he has concentrated on being the best basketball player he could be ever since he entered the NBA. The only times he's ever been in the headlines before this was for the infamous "shaq or kobe's team feud" or winning yet another NBA championship.Originally posted by: conjur
I still can't believe all this fvcking hype about Kobe. Big freakin' deal. So he gets paid millions to be an NBA superstar. That's supposed to make him some sort of idol? The guy's nothing more than a thug who deserves to spend MANY years behind bars if found guilty.

Where are you reading that she went down to finish her shift? From what i heard, she left the room and went straight to the police.
Afterward, Bryant told the woman to clean up, Winters said. She fixed her hair, wiped her face and left after again promising to remain silent.
She went back to the front desk to finish up her work and finally left the resort with an unidentified bellman, Winters said. She told him what happened and he urged her to report it, later following her home.
Yeah, but a lot of women don't react immediately after being raped either. Some take a shower, or even wait for days before reporting. Partly because of the shock, confusion of what to do, and the shame of having to tell it. You can't fault somebody for that unless you've been in a similar circumstance.
WEll she couldn't have had to much shock or shame she told a bellboy not too long after it happened.

I get so tired of hearing this mumbo jumbo. We are all adults who have had sex in many ways. This story is so whack it doesn't even add up. When they said she had marks I was thinking she had all these marks showing he smacked her or something. Now the cop seen no brusies but the nurse did? Ok so who's lying or blind. This is clearly he said she said fiasco. And if all they are going to bring to the table is this weak stuff Kobe will walk unless he gets convicted for other reasons.

I just read about what happened on espn. Sounds awfully weak to me. First off the guy who interviewed the girl saw no marks on her neck. Second Kobe told her to "clean up" and "fix her hair" and she did and then went and finished her shift? WTF? No way, no way that happened. Now your going to tell me a man forcefully holds her over a chair by her throat, rapes her, and then she does everything he says even down to just going down and finishing her shift. Man please. And please how do you hold someone by the neck enuff not to choke them but "control them" while you rape them. This is the biggest bunch of crock I've ever heard.

I don't think that he raped her... but he probably didn't pay her enough... *rim shot*. It would be the equivalent of an ATOTer saying ____________ <-----( insert your favorite models names here), throw me on the couch and raped me!... Help, and I was too much of a geek to scream for help.
Are you aware that he even admitted she was crying hysterically when she left his room. He said it was because he didn't have a condom (even though he claimed he stopped). NOW THAT'S HARD TO BUY.

Or could it of been that she felt stupid once the sex was over and Kobe told her that it was only fling and that he did not want a serious relationship ?

Those would be actually quite fitting with typical post-rape routines. You don't think a big basketball player could hold a woman by the neck enough to control them without actually choking them? I'm reasonably sure I could do that to most small guys with little trouble (rape aside of course) let alone a smaller weaker woman.
Out of curiosity are you a basketball or kobe fan?
Most of the threads here are examining and giving opinions on the stories told to the associated press so far in the case. It's important to put the name Kobe Bryant in this because as soon as the name is mentioned, you somewhat have an idea of his character and personality.Originally posted by: Vic
Take the name "Kobe Bryant" out this and add "John Doe" or anyone else and all of you would be screaming for his blood. You hypocrites sicken me :disgust: :| Looks pretty open and shut to me. She says she said no, he admits she was crying, there is physical evidence... he's a rapist. Remember, it is rape even if she asks him to stop halfway through or at any other point.
MUst have been one of those really really soft chairs. He banged her, blew her off and she collapsed emotionally. And we know she was suffering from some kind of emotional instability.
But early on in the encounter, Bryant became anxious that he wasn?t using a condom, afraid that he might get the young woman pregnant, according to the sources close to Bryant. At some point, she started yelling for him to stop?which he did, the sources say?but she kept crying hysterically and was insistent on leaving. Bryant started to panic and tried to keep her from leaving until she calmed down, the sources say. He attempted to put ice on her eyes, which were swollen with tears, and pleaded with her to stay and talk. But she insisted that she had to go back to the concierge desk. Bryant asked her to return, and she told him she would. She never did. The next thing he knew, the county sheriff was asking him to go to a local hospital and provide a DNA sample.

man, this story just doesn't add up. i mean, the more and more i read about it, the more and more i think it is all bullshit. i don't know kobe personally or anything like that, but i still believe he's not the kind of guy who would do THAT. at most it was consensual sex.

Who exactly is Kobe Bryant?
Based on public image, he's a basketball superstar who has been in the league 5+ seasons and has never been in trouble. He's the idol of millions of young children out there and has never done anything to make anyone think otherwise. He was raised as a wealthy boy with a NBA player as a father.
When you're a celebrity, people will know more about you then they know about John Doe because every whim of your life is magnified. If you mess up once, it's hard to change public perception.
Now we're confronted with a story who many people doubt because they are finding gaps or are just having a hard time believing that the story could actually take place. If this was a John Doe case, no one would care except the people that knew him. The thing about this case is, everyone knows a little bit about Kobe and is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because of the respect he has EARNED while being a celebrity.

Bent over the back of a soft leather chair like a decent hotel room is likely to have I just don't think there'd be marks.

You have to figure that the state of dress could have been different when she was in front of the cop compared to when she was in front of the nurse. Not to mention if her hair was up or down. A cop might not know where to look and a nurse might. Also, time frame from the point of injury to the showing of bruising varies. It has to do with timeline. Someone can look relatively unhurt and develop bruises at a later time.
Most rape cases are he said/she said. Yes, they definitely need better evidence. I totally agree with you on that, but that's not what you were originally saying. You simply said, as you did yet again, 'This story is so whack it doesn't even add up.' So where's the he said/ she said? There's no objectivity there. You seem intent on saying that she's wrong just because there's no strong physical evidence. Couldn't it have happened the way she said and yet still be lacking in the evidence area? Anything is possible and sadly the only people that know what really happened are her and Kobe. Regardless of the decisions in the legal system we really will never know.

So, there seems to be a pattern here - Kobe like young girls ?
