I don't recall any news about his selection or lack thereof, or he commenting at all on this.

Then why even post? :|

Hasn't he already been on one Dream Team? He probably just didn't have the motivation or desire to play this year. I'm sure they would have selected him if he would accept. I mean, the guy just won an NBA championship and MVP in the NBA. There's isn't much else if he already has a gold medal too ;)

abc asked a question and was looking for answer. You OBVIOUSLY don't care about the topic at hand so it puzzles me as why you would even click on the thread in the first place :Q

Ausm is correct. Shaq said he wanted to spend the summer with his kids and not in Australia.

If he didn't want to spend time at home, he wouldn't be selected for the Dream Team anyways. Look at it, all the man can do is dunk.

GreenBeret: Yea....whatever. He didn't win a league MVP, All-Star MVP, the scoring title, All-NBA First Team, NBA All-defensive Second team, lead his team to an NBA title while averaging 38 points and 16 rebounds in the finals, by having no skills and just being huge. The man is an awesome combination of talent, size, and agility. Talent + Size + Agility = Unstoppable.

Shaq has great ball handling skills for a guy his size. How many guys who are 7'1" and 340 pounds have you seen that can go coast to coast and dish it off like he did a few times last season?

Agility?!?! Crack kills. He's big enough that no one can stop him from posting, or move him far enough to snatch a reb from him.

He is awsome down low, but you gotta admit that he has no outside jump shot at all.

GreenBeret: Yes agility. Did you watch the NBA last season? Did you see the sweet drop step Shaq used, the up-and-under reverse move that he used so many times? I don't care how big someone is, when you have a team like the Blazers throwing three big guys at you every time down the court, it takes agility and skill to score. Shaq is the only guy his size that I have ever seen get a rebound, take the ball up court, dribble through traffic, and lay it up with a soft touch. He did that during the All-Star game last year.

That "he's just bigger than everyone" arguement is just bull that haters like to throw out. If being so much bigger than everyone is all you need to succeed in the NBA, then why doesn't Shawn Bradley lead the league in rebounds and blocks every year? I mean come on, he's taller than almost everyone else, so by your logic, rebounds should just fall in his hands. Funny that Charles Barkley was an amazing rebounder yet he's only 6'5".

Also, why doesn't Oliver "Buffet" Miller just use his weight to score everytime down the floor? Why isn't Gheorghe Muresan, who is 6 inces taller than Shaq and over 300 pounds himself, a massive force in the NBA? I mean, using your "he's huge" theory, he should average 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 blocks, shouldn't he?

Kobe was not selected initially. He was overlooked along with Vince Carter. Kobe was offered a spot after Grant Hill was injured. Carter was offered a spot after some other dude's injury as well.

Shaq is good because he is big. But also because he is not clumsy or goofy, he does move pretty well for his size. Bradley is a stick, Muresan is plain goofey, and Oliver Miller is a lardass. That is why they aer no good. Shaq has noooo touch (not that the other guys do). When Shaq came into the league, he was my favorite player, but he's so boring to watch, as is the rest of the NBA in my opinion, I've really lost interest.
